The axle is just defective no need to go to nissan, just take it back. If its the passenger side, any ol' axle from a 4th/5th gen will work. i have an "AT" axle in my VLSD MT

Called the dealer and they said the only way to diagnose is to change the axle again. And Nissan does not have OEM remanufactured axles, just new ones ($550). They told me just to go back and get a new one.

Here's a fun fact:

My car is now vibrating on and off. Last night on the way home, zero vibration. This morning, it feels like the front end is about to fall the fawk apart.

When I first did my swap, I had my driver side AT axle in there too. It went in no problem. I was like WTF? I just busted a myth about needing a 5 speed axle. Then when I went to replace it with another AT one it would not go in for nothing... Went back and got a 5 speed one and i've been running that ever since.

Problem solved.

The axle was defective, replaced it with another, car is smooth. I do need new tie rods and a steering rack boot soon.

Driver side Axle is where the "coupling" for the VLSD is, so u probably were not getting the full performance out of ur VLSD, the driver side VLSD axle is distinctly longer extremely easy to tell the difference between the 2.

Its the Passenger side that is universal across all trannys.

I'm bumping this thread since I don't think I should start a new one.

What happened was I started getting a lot of vibration up through the shifter now, and a wobbling feeling on the passenger side of the car.

Pulled the wheel off and grease has been sprayed everywhere so I'm replacing it this weekend. My passenger inner tie rod is totally shot as well. Would either of these things cause the feelings I'm having now? I was also told to look at my transmission mounts & motor mounts.

Anyone have any thoughts on this?

Grease would likely be from a torn CV Shaft Boot.

Yes, and Yes to the vibes and root causes.

Bump. I have a question on the interchangeability for the passenger side axle on a AE VLSD transmission. What fits in there? Raxles don't have anything for LSD cars.

Any 5MT axle should fit.

I put a regular 6MT axle in my HLSD tranny and it works just fine.

By the way, the vibration I was getting from my GSP axle? Not at all axle imbalance...it was actually the tie rod wobbling because it was so worn. Just to let you know.

I know you were having the same issue.

I put in all new tie rods and it's still doing it. Gonna get a different axle (A1 cardone instead of GSP) tomorrow.

Really..?

Huh...

You replaced inner and outer? Did you check your ball joint?

When I dropped the new tie rod in, the vibration went away immediately. I think the wheel being out of alignment was causing the wheel to pull and play with the tie rod...

Good choice, I have a brand new one here waiting to be installed, I hope it doesn't give me any problems.

My car was vibrating like crazy cause the axles were both shot. I had them both replaced with whatever aftermarket axles Nissan suggested. Picked the car up and it was still vibrating, no where near as bad though. Drove like 40 miles, they put the car back in the air and said one axle was leaking already. They replaced it and it still happens. They said that it's cause my car is so low (The axles are def on an angle and when taking a turn hard, the car fukcing vibrates really bad from the axle binding and getting at too much of an angle)

They still said they would warranty it 12 months/12,000 miles but I need to raise the car before they service it and replace axles again. IDK if my tie rods are bad or not but the vibration is from like 15-30 mph. Really annoying.

Check the play in the tie rods and ball joints, replace if necessary. It could be the rods if it only shakes at certain speeds, cuz with my numerous defective axles the car shook all the time.
