Ok, so I'm thinking I'll be needing some Tein SS Coilovers by next summer , and from everything I can gather, they're some of the best. Apparently they have a drop range of -1.5 to -3.1F, and -0.8 to -2.7R. I haven't been able to find many decent pictures searching the numerous threads that mention the Tein SS's. Most of them are from ~'03-05' and most of the picture links are broken. I'm hoping that some of you have some decent pics of your cars with Tein SS drops (particularly as low as they go, just so I can see the range at it's fullest).

dude get ksports....better price and from what im told newer technology

im on ksports and can give ya some pics of the drop, the ride is awesome on both ends of the stiffness

 

i think the Law is on Tein SS. THE best in the coilover game as far as our cars go and that are highly praised are *in this order, from my research* JIC, BC, Tein. not knocking tein, but thats what i've come to find. generally speaking though, over aftermarket spring/strut setups, most any coilover setups ride better, from what i've read

Really? Yeah, I'd love to see all the pics you can get me. Where have you heard there's newer technology in the Ksports? I just haven't heard much about them... Lower price is definitely a plus, as long as they're a good product...

The guys at maperformance.com (local shop here) were telling me that ksports are better. I'm not sure if thats because they get a bigger deal with them, but they were saying that Tein is just just plain old technology. My buddy has Tein on his 6th Gen and they look and feel great, but for the price difference and quality I would go with Ksports.

 

I'm loving the drop wish thier was a pic of the back. My car is the same color starting to picture what my cars going to look like now.....but with a touring kit

I'm liking the look... I'll be looking in to the Ksports. I have a few questions:

1) I noticed there are a few different 'models' of Ksports available for our cars. Did you just get the Ksport Kontrol Pro kit? From what I understand, this is the "basic" kit...

2) Where did you buy them, and where is the best place to get them at the best price?

3) What is the ride height adjustment range for the Ksports?

4) Do they come with pillow ball mounts? I've heard good and bad things about that type of mount, and I'm wondering what the options are for that with the Ksports... I know with the Teins you can get regular or pillow ball mounts.

First, if you don't really care about performance, than it doesn't matter. Get coilovers and get the drop you want. You can close this thread now.

I have ksports on my 4th gen. No trouble what so ever expect a blown strut. Fixed easily with a replacement.

There are a few kits KSports offer's to differnet applications street, track, auto x.

For the fifth gen:

The following are offered:

They all have 36 levels of damping adjustment allow you to fine tune the ride to your handling and comfort needs. The damping adjusts compression and rebound simultaneously for ease of adjustment. Pillow ball top mounts in the front allow you to maintain vehicle manufacturer suspension geometry design. The pillow ball top mounts also allow you a more direct feel for solid driver response. Where available, camber can be adjusted via the Pillow-ball Top Mounts.

Height adjustment the odd's are endless. Depending on how low you wanna do. Roll fender's, width wheel's and tires etc that all goes into play.

Price wise search around. There are plenty of venders always offering deals on here. Or even buy a used set. Just make sure there not blown

I had K-sports, blew out 2 struts and I wasnt slammed. Sold them as-is and got Tein SS's...there's no comparison. I feel the quality of the Tein's are so much better than the k-sports and the ride difference is very noticeable.

glad to hear a person chip in...id like to hear of a comparison of D2s to Teins or BCs

 

i have d2's basicly the same and ive been slammed for 2 years already roughly 30k and ive had not one complaint i love them and they go super low

Also gotta consider the people who ran coil's all year around... There not winter, salt friendly

my car is parked during the winter in a heated garage, so that factor doesnt matter with my ksports

 

honestly its going to look the same....just a matter of how high they are set at and what wheels they got...

Basically... They all do the same lower your car and adjust dampening. The factors are what experience people have had with them...

 

I got k sports. No issues, love them. Wish they were stiffer though.

 

great info, i had jics got em used for my 5th gen and loved them, now i have a new brand c8sport coilover still uninstalled but got it for $450 brand new local deal/black friday special ima see how these hold up, but if i didnt get these c8sports i would have went with k-sport

Law is on Progress/Cattman coilover.

JIC A2s are the best COs available for A33, according to Brian Catts. (Cattman) Tein SS is the best CO available for the A33 when you ask people on this site.

Jowo, as for pictures of cars with Tein SS installed they will look like a Maxima with any other set of coilovers on them. Fully height adjustable so you can ride stock or pancake the car on the ground if necessary.

As for yet another Tein SS vs. the world in terms of coilovers...
Just go with what you like, everybody likes their own setups. I'd rock some K-sports, D2s, BCRacings, NEX GTs, pretty much anything except JIC A1s. Listening to advice from every .Orger on COs will tell you they love their setup and that won't really help with anything pertaining to your decision.

 

D2 & K-sport coilovers are made in the same factory. The dampers are the same and the only difference between the two are the adjustments on the fronts.

Go with Tein SS and slam the car on the ground.

From experience:

JIC------------------------------------------------->TEIN-------------> Everything else.

If you have $$, JIC. If you don't, TEIN SS FTW!!!!! What I like about the SS is you can have at set at the lowest ride height, and it will still feel like stock!! I don't think there is any point in asking for pics with SS installed. They can look different depending on what height the owner has put them on.

 

From what I've seen you can slam them all equally low if you want.

Every bit of info we have all posted should have helped a bit... Regardless of what you get make sure you get a decent alignment. So you won't be goin thru tires every month lol

 

Yeah, you've all contributed some great info. I still don't know what I'll end up getting, but I guess I have a few months to decide... And I'll make sure I get an alignment when I get the coilovers. Does it change things when you adjust ride height? Do I have to get an alignment every time I change height on the coilovers?

Unfortunately, yes you do. Everytime you change the height, you should get an alignment. Usually everytime you go lower, camber changes.
