From a 3rd gen to a 5.5 gen

hey i'm back, after a long vacation from the org im back with a shiny 5.5 gen

I bought a 2002 maxima se with 140k for $3500 my old 3rd gen is still sitting in my backyard waiting to be chopped up it has had so many problems i dont wanna go into it but she lasted 180k and over 4yrs so no complaints....my 2002 maxima has got a few problems though.....

  • auto locks dont work
  • passenger side window wont close unless you use window lock button it just rolls up all the way then ...slides down about 3 inches
  • cd player makes a whirring noise and spits cds back out
  • drivers side power seat wont tilt only goes fwd and back
  • makes a strange squeaking almost grinding noise when its cold out and the cars not warmed up....when im idling usually pulling car out of park the steering wheel will jerk sorta like when power steering fluid is low...but its not...and a grinding noise comes from under the hood.....doesn't seem to effect the car once on the road....reading thru old posts seems like its something called electronic engine mount failure...could be wrong though.......
  • everything else is working great ive noticed a huge difference in horsepower going from a 3rd gen to a 5.5 and i love it

Welcome to the 5th gen forum! There are some good people here, with a friendly, even-minded Moderator.

That issue with your window bouncing down 3 inches... search for it. There are a few threads that describe the fix with the reset switch. Done it twice myself, and I'm no mechanic.

Welcome to the 5.5's. Just this past summer, I got into a 5.5, after years of nothing but 4th gens. I still have my 95SE that I love.

As mentioned above, you have lots of reading to do. I too had to fix that window issue.

I came from the 3rd gen to the 5th gen also. I still think my 94 was more comfortable to sit in.

Same boat here i had 2 3rd gens and then got a 5.5 gen. I will say that every time i see a 3rd gen i tear a little and if its in mint condition i stare for a bit.
