bc coilovers? step on in please...
Hey everyone, I have a 5.5 maxima right now, I have read good things about the bc coilovers (not boss chen) people with 350s, g35's sti's and evos all very happy with them. I'm just curious how maxima owners like them. I know the cars are totally different platforms, awd, rwd fwd, which is why I'm curious. I am currently running tein s tech springs and just don't like them. So when spring comes around I wanted to grab these c/o's, install my progress rsb and get some blehmco parts also, along with new bushings to make it feel the way a car should.
If anyone has anything positive or negative about the c/o's I would like to hear it. I'm not looking to slam the crap out of the car either. I enjoy my subframe and oil pan the way they are, I also plan on getting the car aligned and corner balanced when they are installed, with some better tires
Thanks everyone. Also please don't turn this into a bashing thread about saving money for teins or something like that lol
Jay

I had a set of D2's and I sold them and bought a set of BC coilovers. I love them. The ride feels so much better than the D2's. I am at the same ride height on the BC's and the car feels more planted as well as rides smoother. I love these coilovers.

That's what I have been reading on different forums. Pretty much the answer I was hoping to hear from maxima owners. I just want a nice comfy ride, the s techs I have now I don't care for, to the point my wife hates riding in the car, but she also has a full size suv she drives.
Thanks for the input, how far from ct are you?

I have bc racing coilover on my 2004 maxima ride is okay bec I have 20" on them but is would been better with my stock 17" n I never droving with my 17" so is should be good as long u don't go with bigger wheels.
I had them since lasts April plus I put them 25,000 miles on them n still riding strong. Aw yeah they slight bounce depend on the hwy tho.
My damper in the front set to 26 I beleive.

I did email bc about warranties and a group buy. The warranty only applies to the original owners of the coilovers. So be aware of this if you are buying a used set. Not sure if they only charge the small amount out of warranty.
Also for a group buy, it cannot be thru bc it does need to be done thru a vendor. I will try to dig around and see who the vendors are on this site and contact them and see if it would be possible
If anyone is interested I would be happy to try to work with a vendor and see if we can make it happen

If anyone is seriously interested, i contacted a local BC dealer here in CT where i live and they said if we can find enough people at least 6-7 people to get a discount they would be willing to work with us on a GD.
I do not have pricing on them yet, I told them I would like to get a idea of how many people I could gather up for a GD and they will be happy to help out with pricing and what not. We just need to get a serious number for them to get it rolling, so if anyone is interested, please feel free to contact me here or post up and i would like to get them some numbers in the next few weeks, I know holidays are tough on the wallets. But they are willing to work with us, even though they are not a sponsor on here.
Thanks

annnnnnd i might be out of this equation as well...as far as who BC makes coilovers for..good observation. i havent remembered seeing one 4th gen with BC coilovers before...but i'm sure you can make the 5th work on the 4th i believe from what i remember reading, the perches on teh front, or something or other can be interchanged and make them able to be used on the 4/5th gens...the rears are interchangeable no modifications necessary

Blah blah blah, I didn't use google before posting.
Nevermind. This thread was very helpful.
http://my350z.com/forum/brakes-and-s...coilovers.html
It seems the BC racing are the better deal, as they manufacture the megan racing coilovers, but do not offer the same rebuild deals or out of the box options.
Other forums give some speculation that probably holds truth also.
"I've heard from several unoficial resources (not 100% sure) that BC racing and/or the company who makes BC racing also makes Megan and that BC racing is supposed to be a slight step up with bigger internals and better locking. "
So uhh BC... I will be going for some in late spring/early summer.
"I chose BC racing taking into consideration many different things and also this quote from Circuit MS one of the CL vendors:
"Compared to Megans, BCR coilovers have bigger internals, beefier shock bodies, locking lower rings (so the height adjustment rings don't work loose), and a better damping curve. They end up being a lot more compliant over rough surfaces. And they tend to last longer.""

Not sure about you guys but BC coilovers for nearly ALL of their applications are priced the EXACT same on their site. Seems they just went ahead and said $1000 sounds good.
How is their CS btw?

I was going to put my order in by mid to late feb, i figured that way if anyone is serious and tax time is then it will help people out by getting them a bit cheaper.
But we need serious interested people

I wanna see this GD happen, if I can score these for like $750 I'd be the happiest person in the world.

D2 Coilovers are a much better choice then the BC. Some points:
-D2 are made in Japan
-D2 has indivudal adjustability to adjust each coilover as 1 unit
-D2 uses pillowball mounts made with steel bearings. Rubber is crap.
-D2 uses 52mm shock bodies. BC does not.
-All D2 Coilovers have locking collars.
-Fully rebuildable in the U.S. with an outstanding customer service and 2 warehouses in the United States.
BCR is made in China. The rear lower mounts on BC are all steel where as the rear lower mounts on D2 is aluminum. Aluminum is more expensive and lighter.

BCs can be adjusted individually, and the rears even include remote adjustment.
BCs have locking collars.
BCs also have the choice of either pillowball mounts (default) or the rubber ones, and include camber plates.
The shock bodies are 53MM.
They are rebuildable in the US at their Florida location.
lol?
