2k2 Auto tranny...Slow to connect?!
2k2 Auto tranny...Slow to connect?!
I love my 2k2 Auto. But it seems that at times when downshifting, the tranny spins too long before actually engaging. i.e. nailing it and the engine winds up way before the car pulls. It seems worse at lower speeds. I realize alot is going on down there, but I wish I had a "shift kit" type response
! All in all it is very smooth though.

I don't know about downshifting but on upshifts i do get a slip from 1-2
Downshifting is smooth and precise.

I noticed this too....especially when you put it into Reverse first thing in the morning....it sometimes feels as if you are backing up in Neutral....wierd. Also, are a lot of you doing the Drive to 3rd downshifting (by tapping it to the left)? I seem to want to do that a lot. IMHO, a 5spd auto would have made a great car a bit better.

Chekc to see if there is a TSB on the trans from Nissan. I believe the 2K model had this problem. A new chip or reprogram of the trans fixed this.
My company has a 2K auto which does the slow slip shift from 1st to 2nd and horrable downshifts as well. It's very noticable when you accellerate hard. Our company salesman who drives it thinks it's normal. I showed him the TSB and told him to get it fixed. He still thinks its normal, but Nissan doesn't!

When I was manually up-shifting my auto I would notice that it hesitates a bit to go to the next gear. Downshifting is fine.

Yeah, I have been paying more attention. The downshifts are much tighter than the upshifts. Can this be improved with a reprogramed ecu?
