fuel line splash guard nissan says...

i called nissan at 1-800-nissan1 and opened a file on the missing fuel line splash protector guard. and they said they haven't had any complaints. at least this guy said this and he has been there only a year. he wanted to call my dealership and find out what they are doing about it and i told him to hold off , i want to see how good the service is going to be first. i want to see if what they claim is true."best service" we will see

everyone needs to start calling and complaining about this. i can't believe they are not putting this part on their "flagship" car. it makes me wonder what other parts they may have "forgot" to put on!!!

It's cover on the underside that runs along the fuel line to protect it from rocks and debris that could cause the line to rupture or anything like that. If you have a lot of dirt or grime other that normal when you open the fuel tank lid then you don't have one, so you need to file a complaint and get your dealer to fix the problem.

Nissan service

I know for a fact that I and several others have called and complained about this. Hell I sent them a letter as well. and all of that was within the last year. They had my dealer fix it. So they are aware of the problem whether they admit it or not.

I'm in Canada. Went to my dealer and bugged them. They told me that this part was discontinued on the Max as of June 2001. So if your car was made after that it won't/shouldn't have one. I don't know if it is different for US models.

I believe that if you look in the wheel well on the driver's side you will see what people are talking about -- the fuel line is exposed to raod debris and you get sand and dirt inside the fuel filler door.

are you joking? If not then - Nope - that is the fuel filler line connecting to the fuel tank - the guard goes over the line near the top.

Hah!

I'm surprised that they didn't tell you that they have nothing to do with the car.

That's what they told me about my problem!

I had an 01 and the dealer ordered and put the parts on at no charge to me. I traded for an 02, and the same dealer said the parts are not listed for an 02. Rather than fool with it, I paid the $13 for the cover and 4 clips and will install myself. Cannot believe they dropped the part. The inside of my fuel filler area is nasty with all the bad weather. What a stupid place to cut costs. I'm sure if I had made noise I might have gotten it for free, but at the low cost, I didn't have the energy for the fight.

good luck, and the best way to know you don't have one if you don't know what you are looking for is to go through rainy, gritty weather for a week and if you got dirt/dust/yuk in the fuel filler area...be sure you don't have a cover!!!

I also had an 01 that didn't come with one. I went to the dealer and told them it was missing and they installed it under warranty. I've only had my 02 for a week and haven't checked if it has one. If not I'll go back and ***** again. If they don't give me one I'll probably fork over the cash and do it myself.
