5th GEN. Trans question. Fix car or part-out?

Hey guys, looking for some advice. My trans finally gave out on my 2000 Maxima with 199k miles, i knew it was coming. Took it to the shop and they will let me know for sure if the trans is the problem but the car won't shift into gear or move back or foward so I'm guessing the worst. Wondering if it's worth fixing or just selling the car as-is or parting it out? How much do you think I would be spending on putting a new trans? Car is well taken car of have had no major issues with it, still looks and drives great. Thanks for the input and advice in advance.

It really depeneds on what the car is worth to you. Personally, at this point if my tranny were to get shot I'd probably change it without hesitation.

you can find a tranny on car-part.com for less than $500. Take it to a ma & pa shop, youll be out for less than a grand.

Probably a straight forward fix on your existing trans, but the diagonosis and labor are where it gets expensive.

If you do part it out I am looking for the relay box in front of the battery for my 2000

Thanks for all the help fellas. After I towed it to a shop the problem was ........
The axel. I was ecstatic when I heard. Cost me $250 which I was pleased to pay. I did look into car-part and found a tranny so thanks for the heads up and I was also searching for some maximas on this site but I'm glad to have my car back. 199,764 miles and still pushing

obviously his axle came apart...immobilizing him...i mean if the mechanic says its his axle, im sure its just his axle, and it came apart..i guess the OP didnt have the mechanic ability to visually see that the axle came apart.
