2000 Maxima rough idle

The problem started about a month ago. At idle the car start to run rough and shut off. It starts with no problem but shut off again. I removed the throttle bod and the MAF to clean both of them. The car ran fine and the same thing happened the next day. I found some information online that it may be the MAF. I also read that the ECU has to be reflashed after the MAF replacement or risk burning out the new MAF. It this true?

Check the IACV (idle air control valve). Press the gas peddle down alittle and start the car and see if it starts if it does its bad. Change immediatly because it can burn out your ecu(computer). Only way to know if it is burned out is after installing the new iacv and seeing if the computer will take the idle relearn. If i could help just one person from this thread would be worth it knowing all the problems i went through with this problem.

your computer might throw the code for the MAF because the IACV is closed and the engine not getting now air. Just press down the gas peddle alittle and start the car and if it does the idle air control valve is bad also its located underneith the throttle body intake and is connected the the throttle body.

I am having this problem as well. I can't keep it running when at a stop without giving it gas. I just replaced the ICV 2 days ago and it didn't help at all, in fact I'm pretty sure it's worse now. Do I have to do the idle learn procedure after installing a new ICV? Anything else to check? I have cleaned the MAF and TB.
