Test drove the 6 speed car. Minor tear on the arm rest but other than that, the interior looks really good. Hard loaded, only option it doesn't have is the nav that I can tell. No cold start rattle, clutch has a normal engage height, 3rd is a bit notchy but no grind. Could just be that it has been 15 years or so since I've regularly driven a manual. Probably going to get it if no else shows up with the money first.

Car pulls pretty hard, didn't even get on it all the way and it felt quicker than mine.

Hope you get the settlement soon and get another car so you can put this all behind you. If there is something I could help you with, let me know.

That's pretty funny that he thinks it's a bad thing. Use that to your advantage to drive the price down.

Sure thing, I appreciate it!

Waxima-he doesn't realize how coveted the 6 speed cars are, to him it is just a really fun car to drive.

You might want to practice this line then

"Oh, a manual? I guess that'll.. oh... man... it's a 6 speed. (shake head slowly) I dunno, those are... I mean... yeah..." and put a dejected look on your face.

For a dejected look, all Scott probably needs to do is think of his car that got totalled.

He called me back this morning and said he just got the paperwork I mailed in yesterday-which is a huge steaming pile of you-know-what. Doesn't take 6 days for mail to go from the Dallas area to Iowa. I've send credit card bills to South Dakota that are through my bank account in 2 days. Anyway, he said he would overnight the check to me so I should have it tomorrow. We'll see...

Be one day late on an insurance premium payment and they can cancel you but they take as long as they want to take care of you when they have to pay.

Yeah, that's normal. You just get used to it. If you are lucky enough to buy the car, I HIGHLY recommend two mods to make shifting more enjoyable. A Ralco short throw shifter adapter (or drill and do the free mod) and the ES shifter bushings. It takes the slop out of the shifting.

And I think I'm about to change the trans fluid to the new Redline MT-85. It looks like there are good reviews about it coming out now.

Good luck Scott. I have my fingers crossed for you getting the car.

Called and e-mailed. Going to call my agent in the morning to let her know how the adjuster is jerking me around.

roclucky1-Amen to that! Dealing with the insurance is a big enough pain, dealing with serious injury or worse would be horrible.

First, Glad all is well health wise.
Scott, if you want this car and know that there is a cheque coming, why don't you give the guy a deposit to semi- secure the deal?

Farmers is the other guy's insurance, Nationwide is mine. Still no check, no tracking number and according to an adjuster I talked to, the check ended up in Germany. How the hell? The jerk adjuster handling my claim won't reply to e-mails and his supervisor has yet to call me back. I am beyond pissed at this point.

I say it's almost time to start involving your state's insurance commissioner. THe run around the insurance guy is absolutely asinine.

Not that I know of. UPS can't seem to figure it out either. So glad the guy with the 6 speed Maxima has been so patient about all this.

Yeah, he seems like a decent guy.

if there is an issue with the check today, I would call him and offer him a $500-1000 deposit as a good faith move.

Drives real nice, no 3rd gear crunch, lot less notchy today than it was when I test drove it on a much cooler day last week. Nice 1-2 chirp at half throttle.
