Need some urgent fuse help please

Hi guys,

I need some quick help please as it's going to get dark soon.

Basically, I tried installing an HID kit on my 01 max that I bought from this forum. Unfortunately only one bulb and ballast worked, the other wouldn't light up.

Anyway, I put the stock bulbs back in so that I could at least drive for now. But now neither the headlights NOR the fog lights would turn on!

I have no idea what a blown fuse will look like. Also, the fuse box under the hood driver's side, doesn't have a fuse cover, so I don't even know what position to check...

Can someone please help me out before it gets dark. I need to be able to drive tonight. Thank you.

Thanks so much.

So I pulled the fog fuse inside the car. It is fine and not blown. However, I'm missing the cover for the fuses under the hood. So I don't know what to check.

Guys I really need some help please. I took the car to a Nissan dealership just now and local shops but no one is there today because we just had a snow storm.

I'm really desperate and would appreciate your help as it's getting dark.

As for your fuse boxes this PDF will help you identify what fuse is for what. Specifically the two fuses you should be looking at are #68 & #69, both are 15 amp (Blue) fuses. The layout for the FB is under FUSE AND FUSIBLE LINK BOX

Additional schematics and diagrams start on page 33 of the FSM Electrical Section. http://www.nicoclub.com/FSM/maxima/2001/EL.pdf

Nevermind guys. I just pulled all of the fuses under the hood and found the two blown ones. Everything works great now, thank you!

Anyone know why the HID kit didn't work though? Only one side was working for some reason. I tried reversing the pollarity on the like the instructions said. But that's what made the one side work. The other would not light up. Any advice?

Something that usually gets neglected is the ground for electrics/electronics. I would look there. Otherwise I would double check your connections and test them with a circuit tester.

Perhaps your fuse was blown before, from when you installed the HID kit. Blown fuse would make that ballast not work, then you switched it back and panicked when you realized the stock setup was also not working.
