Windshield washer in engine oil place
Windshield washer in engine oil place
Before going on an saying i've done the most stupidest thing ever, i know i did it and i dont know what was i thinking of.
But anyway i accidentally put windshield washer fluid in engine, have I killed my maxima for good? I've put may be 1/4 or even less before i realized i was putting it in wrong place and shut off the engine.

You might want to do this at least a couple of times......change....drive a little .....change.....drive......change......in essence you want to flush the engine well (or get an engine flush alternatively)......just a thought....might be overkill but i don't know...
Depends on how long u ran the engine before u cut it off, did u notice knocking or anything b4 u cut it off??? The First and Only thing to do now is CHANGE that shyt and see what u got afterwords...

So OP.......just out of curiosity....what happened?
Well it was one my friends birthday, it was almost midnight and I was in hurry, and talking on the phone, so yeah combination of things but this , my fellows, is officially the dumbest thing i've ever done or heard. Lol I wasnt expecting this from me.
Absolutely Not. If it was couple hours later may be YES but it all happened before
Assuming that your oil pan was full of actual oil...I really don't see that damaging the engine all that much...unless you drove it like that.
As the others have said...change the oil and filter...drive it for 25 or less, and do it again. the VQ30's are pretty bulletproof....even when in the face of stupidity or neglect...if you have a 3.5?....the you might be in a little more trouble.
Maybe you should put some LEDs inside your washer fluid filler neck that light up when you open the hood...just as a reminder of where to fill

Definately DON'T start it, DON'T move it. The oil and filter needs to be changed right where the car is first. If you can't do this (I assume by this post, that you're not exactly what we refer to as 'mechanically inclined') get a friend or relative to, or you have to foot a tow bill to the local shop so they can do it.
This is essentially water in your oil, likely around 1 Quart of it from the sound of things.
You've turned about 4 Quarts into 5 Quarts, 20% Water, so not only is there water in the oil, there's also way too much fluid... not to mention the harmful detergents and highly flammable alcohol content (if it was winter wash fluid)
So change it and hope it didn't wreck anything, and post back, and then never do it again.

You can drive it to an oil change place and change the oil.
My kid has been driving with water in the oil for the last 4 months and the car still runs smooth and drives strong.
Just change the oil, no harm, no foul.

hahaha thats what this reminds me of, he put NOS energy drink in his gas tank and couldnt figure out why it ran like **** afterwards, and thought the energy drink was really NOS
1. Do not drive the car.
2. Flush out the Washerfluid.
3. Change Oil Filter
4. Pour new oil in & turn on the car for a half a minute
5. Seafoam (brake booster+engine+fuel)
6. Drain oil
7. Add NEW Oil + change filter
8. Drive.
9. Hope for the best prepare for the worst.

You really don't need to Seafoam the car if you just accidentally poured some washer fluid in the crank.
Seafoam through the brake booster is going to clean out your intake manifold. There's not even any spots up there the oil touches or lubricates.

this. The aviation industry calls that Human Factors. Don't beat yourself up. Thankfully, 1/4 cup shouldn't do too much damage. It'll probably be a drain and fill and you're on your way.
if it was actually 1/4 CUP as one of you said, not a 1/4 Jug like the OP eluded to, then it wouldn't be a big deal at all, I wouldn't even bother changing the oil, I'd just do my oil change sooner than I would have.
Point is it sounds like it was way more than that.
I disagree with Seafoam, but that's just my opinion. I don't like this about it:
'I accidentally put extra stuff in my engine' ..... 'Oh well just put this extra stuff in your engine it will fix it!'
I have seen the damage seafoam can do.
And yeah, we all make mistakes, I'm a Diesel Technician and I accidentally put a half a litre of WW fluid in my coolant one day when it was freezing out and I was rushing.
At least you weren't dumb enough not to notice you did it LOL.

I have been known to reflexively pour antifreeze into the windshield washer reservoir on Freightliner Centuries. Oops.
Cars run fine using water injection (to reduce detonation usually) but only a small mist is added. Cars that sit a while can have moisture form inside when the humidity is high and running the engine burns off the moisture so a little water probably won't do any harm. Anything more than a few ounces though, I'd get the car towed and the oil changed before starting it again.

Funny, too.
