Quick Opinions Needed re. Alignment
Quick Opinions Needed re. Alignment
Hey gents. I scored a set of H&R springs for my 5.5, and while I only plan to slam the front, I'm just curious how I should go about getting the alignment done.
My mechanic has just a standard computerized alignment rack. Should I tell him to set to OEM specs? Or should I tell him to just do the alignment in a way that will minimize tire wear?
How did you guys specifically align your cars when you dropped her? Any input is appreciated. I suppose since we have a beam suspension in the rear, that technically only a 2-wheel alignment would be required even if I were to slam all 4 corners?

Yes a two wheel alignment is all that can be done on our cars. I'm debating te same thing as well. I have progress springs all around on illuminas, and I drive very very aggresivly around corners, and I am understeering bc my front brand new michillen pilot spot all seasons are rolling meanin that I do t have enough negative camber in the front. I have camber bolts coming tommorow, but I as well dot have a clue what to tell the tech when I bring it to get it aligned
Just get the car alligned to OEM specs. Unless you have camber bolts installed on the front, there is really nothing else you can do.
BTW h&r sprigns will not "slam" the car. They will give a very mild drop

Yup, he can "Try" to adjust caster/camber w/o the bolts and plates but at best it will be minimal and incorrect. Just do it to spec and if he says your camber is severly out of wack get some camber bolts. They are cheap and easy to install.
