New ECM & IACV

Hey guys, hope all is well!

So I had the fried ECM and IACV issue. I replaced both and got the ECM reflashed, but now there is a low idle issue (to the point where the engine dies). I remembered I replaced my MAF so I had them flash the new MAF and also check the calibration on the IACV. Well, that still didn't work.

I tried to do some research on here and been reading the FSM. So far I came up w/ nothing on here and FSM points to doing the "idle relearn procedure".

I wanted to pick the org's mind and see what you guys may think the issue is.

Thanks in advance!

Roger

Yeah, do the idle air relearn. Also disconnect your electronic motor mounts if you have an AT.

If I do the relearn procedure and it works I seriously got ripped off. Because they said they had did it. Also, I have a 5sp.

Sometimes it doesn't work the first time. I replaced my iacv for preventative reasons and the dealer had to do the relearn twice.

The Iacv relearn is tricky and a PITA. You probably wont get it right the first time.

If they said they did the idle relearn and it's still rough, make them do it again? My IACV fried my ECM and the dealer replaced both (ECM was under warranty ) and didn't have a problem. Good luck.

Alright guys. I took the car to another dealership and got a second opinion. The tech said he could not do the relearn because of the "overheating mode" it goes into. So the computer kicks him out which means the idle relearn has not been done yet. So this is the 3rd confirmation that the idle relearn has not been set. Now he wants me to replace my T-Stat and come by again to see if it would accept the relearn, but my car is not over heating.

The car tends to want to idle sometimes it still dies, but she's trying to idle at times.

Any ideas?

Any luck? I have a 2000 i30 with the same issues. I am experiencing extremely low idles where I need to give it gas to keep it running. I tried changing out the coil packs and no luck. I am going to clean out the MAF and IACV tomorrow. Glad to see the bay area is represented here.

A couple of threads to help you get an understanding on how to perform the relearn for the idle
