I am looking into doing a projector retro and I know some prefer starting with the ebay projectors but I'm not a big fan of the "halos" are there any non-halo projectors out there?
I would just retro my 5.5 gen housings but I don't know how it would look to have a projector sitting in the reflector bowl.

 

A projector sitting in the reflector bowl is going to look fine but if you want to start with eBay projectors just paint the LED halos and delete the bulbs.

 

Don't replace your 5.5 headlights with the eBay ones. If you're going to retrofit, do it right and take the time to fit them in your stock headlights. The fitment of the eBay headlights is AWFUL.

 

i was considering the same thing but i don't want to cut up the stock housing to do so. When i sell my car i want it to be with the stock headlights

 

Here is what you should do: buy the ebay ones and send me the 5.5 ones =] jk man

but if you are serious about doing this here is the write up on them (credits to Feldman) for putting projectors into the ebay reflectors. It atleast gives you a taste for what it would somewhat look like in the 5.5. My reccommendation would be to just keep the lights the way they are, doesnt look the same with projectors
