2k3 rearview mirror vibration
I just bought used 2k3 GLE and its rearview mirror vibrates with music. Before anyone makes smart azz comment about turning it down: I'm running completely stock unit at low-medium volume listening to some random radio stations so no excessive bass is present.
What I noticed though it seems that mirror assembly has sharp resonance at low frequency so even slightest bass in the music makes it shake much more than the ceiling it is attached to. Usually these things are taken care of either by changing resonance frequency (by adding some mass for example) or by introducing energy absorbing material. I like the second approach better just having difficulty to invent something visually acceptable. To be exact the 'oscillator' consists of mirror's rod providing elastic component and mirror itself providing mass - almost like a ball on a thin rod.
If anyone has some ingenious idea how to dampen that thing I'd really appreciate your input.
