Body Kit opinons?

I want to do a fully body kit but can't because of the crazy snow we get here. So I'm thinking just the side skirts? Stillen, AE kit, new 2k2 sides, anything else? No ninja

How do think it would look without the front and rear parts of the kit? And which side skirts to use?I just find the side looks crappy and naked!

The AE kit compliments the cars lines really well. I don’t know what kind of max you have but some people who have go the AE kit could not install the whole rear valence because the SE muffler gets in the way..... By the way can anyone tell me if this applies to all non-AE Max’s fitted with the AE kit? If it does not get the AE kit with the WHOLE rear valence, looks good!

The AE kit doesn't come with the rear center piece when you buy it to put on a non-AE. And I think that even if you did get the rear center piece, the muffler would still clear the kit.

Phatguy, I think that just putting on the side sills of the AE would be nice. I don't like the 2K2 side sills as much as the AE ones, but that's just my opinion. I don't know if you already know this, but the AE and Stillen kits don't really lower your car any. It's an illusion. The prekit height from the road to the bottom of the car is the same as the postkit height. The Stillen one may lower it slightly, but not significantly. I don't know how snow will affect the kit, other than running into it on the road or something, but the kits shouldn't hit the snow if your car doesn't already hit snow.

Thanks for your post! I heard having the stillen front piece on and your car is lowered that it gets trick with inclined driveways and such?

I have an AE with no body kit. (No bodykits on Canadian Models) So there a AE kit and a Nissan OEM kit? What exactly is the difference? I am wondering why my muffler would not clear the AE kit since I have an AE/SE?

if you just want the side skirts, i'd say buy the 2K2 SE side skirts.
those are very nice if you don't want to get the front and the rear piece. other pieces will make your car look like it's sitting on its belly.

now, if you didn't lower your car, Stillen's kit is very nice, because it really doesn't make your car that lower.(maybe about an inch or so)

Ya thanks your probably right about the belly thing. I only have H&R on so I might be able to get away with it. And all Maxima's must be lowered if you even remotely performance drive.

The AE kit and the Nissan OEM kit (for 2000-01 models) are the same thing. However, for 2K2, the cars come stock with the side sills as you know. The 2K2 are different from the AE/OEM kit in that it doesn't bring the underside of the car out to you enough. The 2K2 side sills are still at an angle with the body, and do not produce a vertical plane. It's kinda hard to explain, but go look at the two models (US version AE of course) and then you can see what I mean.

So if Have a real AE and someone rear-ends you, you won?t be able to get the whole centerpiece replaced?!!? Does the AE have a different muffler from the GXE,GLE?
There must be a way to......

1. Get the centerpiece that doesn?t come with the AE kit to put on a non-AE

2. Put the centerpiece on a MAX that does not have the SE muffler that does not allow it to clear (i.e. GXE or GLE)

Can anyone clear this up for me?

If you have a real AE with the rear center piece it IS replaceable. You can get the kit unpainted with the entire rear valence (which includes the center), but this route is pricey and only recommended for replacement in case of accidents. The OEM AE kit comes prepainted minus the center piece.

To answer quest #1, you can get the entire rear valence unpainted but very expensive...like i said above.

Quest #2, the stock SE muffler on non-AEs are the same as the other models, GXE and GLE. Your AE muffler has bent tips. But the other ones should clear the center piece.

Maybe these pictures can help. I recently had the OEM AE kit installed. It is identical to the AE kit except for the rear piece. The rear piece can bee seen in some of the pictures.

BTW, the 2K-2K1 Max needs this kit. The car looks so much better with the kit than without it.

now that is some interesting sh*t........how sure are you of this?
If you're right that's great news for me cuz I should be getting the stillen kit with touring lip spoiler in a few weeks and I also want to drop my car but have been extremely concerned for the future of my car considering I live in NYC and the f*cking roads have basically all gone to sh*t.
So how many inches of clearance do I have before and then after the
stillen kit install?

Now wait a minute.......you're statement doesn't apply to the rear valence and the touring lips spoiler too does it?
cuz i would find that hard to believe....

Then again, even if the SE muffler tip clears the center piece on the original AE kit, it may be too close to the tip and might result in heat problems. After all, Nissan put a cut-out in the stock bumper for the muffler. There must be a requirement for a certain amount of clearance around the muffler tip to avoid heat problems.

To tell you the truth, I don't know about the Stillen rear valence, or the touring front spoiler. I think the Stillen rear valence does lower the rear a few inches, but the AE rear does not. But I know for the regular Stillen front and the AE front, my statement applies. I would have to take a look at the touring spoiler before it is installed on the car, but I would imagine that the touring spoiler would be the same way from the pics that i've seen on irvine's car. I hope this somewhat helps.

jkratzer, I thought about the heat problems too, but I was thinking about cutting the cap off the left side rear and installing the center piece, but cutting the center piece short so that I could attach the cap to it. That way it would still have the clearance for the muffler. I tried to inquire about this, but the cost is way too high, and not worth it.
