True 'dat. Luckily for you (who doesn't like it), your top half-oval is already red, you you don't have that issue with the reflector strip. You can just paint the bottom half and it's going to turn out nice and uniform.

It wasn't purely by choice. I searched long and far for chrome trim tails with a factory-made red oval, but they don't make them anymore (I must have called a couple dozen sellers).

As such, this was my next-best-choice: clear tails and a can of paint. Not ideal, but yes, I like the look enough to keep them, since the all-clear, or the red or gray trim look horrible on my car - at least to me.

...but I was expecting some flak around here fot it though

Perhaps I'm not interpreting you properly, but Isn't it obvious that I put red vinyl over the entire oval area, NOT just the bottom? It would be super simple for you to do the exact same thing, which would fix the reflector and any other stuff you're worried about, while still looking very uniform...

Anyways doesn't matter.

I now wonder what kind of tails I have on my 5.5. They're red top and bottom with the chrome surrounding. I'll have to take a pic tomorrrow. I have not modded them and I highly doubt the previous owner did.
