Possible BCM problem

I was messing around with the interior lighting the other day and I must have wired something wrong because the light I was working with (Driver Footwell Lighting) went off. Then I noticed that my map light, dome light, other footwell light, auto lock button, and keyless entry keyfob was no longer working. All of my fuses are fine.

I found this on the forums:

Body control module (in Chrysler terms) is linked to the PCM/ECU and usually mounted under the dash or the front carpet area under teh center console. It is responsible for controlling, amongst other things...and yes, it could definitely cause your symptoms.

- Interior lighting (dimmer, multifunction switch)
- HVAC controls and function
- Radio, cd changer, nav system, DVD, etc
- Power accessories (locks, windows, seats, mirrors, heater elements)
- Liftgate, sliding door, etc. controls and motors
- Remote keyless entry, vehicle security system, and factory remote start
- Instrument cluster warning lights

Stuff not controlled by the BCM, that's inside the car:
- Instrument cluster gauges (have their own microcontroller)
- ABS brakes (ABS module)
- Air bags (SRS module)
- Sentry Key (computer chip keys..(SKIM module))
- Cruise Control (PCM)
This seems to be exactly what's wrong. Does anybody know how to fix/replace the BCM?

If you don't have it, here: http://www.freepdfdownload.net/2001-...ce-manual.html

There is an 'intellegent entry' module too. That unit controls Dome, Map, door lighting and I think a couple other things. It would be connected to unlock switches (key fab lock/unlock also) and ignition, I'm not sure what else.

Start reading.

"Smart Entrance Control Module" is the Nissan term and it is located on the driver side near the center console. this what the module looks like

Here is the link for the FSM for your model year, you would want to review the EL section.

Read through, but maybe I missed something. I still don't know what the problem is. Do I need to replace the whole SECU or is there some other fix?

I was afraid I'd need to replace it. I just mis-wired something, I would think a fuse would blow. ...How much?

If you look at the wiring schematic of the SECU system you'll see the fuses, AND the push to reset circuit breaker. This circuit breaker may have tripped......it's located under the instrument panel, somewhere in the area above the dead pedal. I've never had to locate it but someone else recently had the same issue and he may have actually found it.

I checked the fuses and nothing is blown. I'm sure the the circuit breaker is tripped, I'm going to look into that later tonight.

the secu in the 01-03 are different, the 00 use a brown box by the steering column with 2 harnesses instead of 3 like 01-03. If you cant find the problem pm me i have one that fits your car.

Driver side seat back won't recline

I notice that you said you had a BCU for a 5th gen; would you have a power seat switch? My 02 Max driver seat goes forward and backward but the recline switch does not work. From everything else I read in the forums, that would be the logical place to start (all fuses are good that I can tell). Thx for your help. gnordmeyer
