WTF is in my Oil catch can. ice and sludge

Ok i am at a loss at what i have here. I drain my CC about every 2 weeks. Usually it looks like you will see. The top stuff is the consistency of a warmed milk shake and has a tannish color. The bottom was icy. Kinda like a mix of ice and i dont know what. Just 4 reference the cc is routed like ------ pcv---hose to cc---cc to intake manifold. Like any others so the intake vacuum pulls the vapors from the pcv and leaves the oil in the CC.

This is the top stuff

this is the bottom stuff in the can

this is the bottom scraped out

anyone have this or have any solutioms

You live in a very cold environment....did you have the catch can installed prior to last winter?

The stuff in the bottom is simply water which has separated out. The water could be coming from condensation forming in the valve covers and getting blown out, or more likely, from the catch can lines and catch can itself.

Condensation makes sense. Is that why i would have a tannish oil in the CC. Also was wondering. This is the top of the CC from the inside.

there is no baffle, no steel wool nothing. Should i have the inside separated some as to be even better at not letting the oil get into the tube going to the intake and getting in there
