DIY: one peice ss clutch line

Well i figured id post this as for the last 2 years ive absolutely had the most problems out of my clutch pedal.

short version i put a new clutch in my car, for some reason opened up the clutch hydraulic system, and NEVER got it right after that. I bled the system a good 10 times. then eventually gave up.

My clutch pedal release point would changed all the time, sometimes id have to pump the pedal up to get a solid feeling again.

I JUST found out the clutch system has 2 bleeding points. The one on the slave cylinder, and the one on the strut mount. that BIG line. I always thought that was for the brake master, because ive seen it on autos too.

anyway what i done was REMOVED all that extra crap in the clutch hydraulic system. got a SS line from the master cylinder to the slave cylinder and uses a pump to bled it from the slave cylinder.

My engine bay is completed empty and it was still a ***** to get the old lines out, so you will have to cut yours to get them out id assume.

on with the pics.......

Im very very happy with this mod, to bad i wont be driving my car for a while still.

Ill get some more pics of it installed, even tho the slave inset mounted on the transmission. with all that other junk removed it looks a lot better!!!

Purchased from AutoMAX the sponsor on here.

I had to remove the clutch damper on my Z because of a mushy pedal .
Do you have a link to their site?

Could you be nice enough to measure the thread size on the fat line? I'm going to guess m14x1.5 but it would be nice to know for sure.

i've been having problems with a very soft pedal and after MUCH bleeding it still isn't getting much better. i was thinking of just capping the connector where the extra branch splits off. why is that extra piping there? to dampen the clutch? so a m14x1.5 plug should do the trick. thanks for the measurement!

i beleive it is there to act as a damper! I hated my clutch for a LONG TIME!!!!

goodluck!!! it will be hard to get to that block where that bigger line goes to! Im glad i just got a whole new SS line from the master to slave.

I'm having a tough time finding a plug to use. I might have to get one from McMaster. I wonder if I could just move the bleeder screw from the end of the damper line to the block that it splits from? The only thing is it might block the smaller line going to the slave. I guess I could try it but I might blow the master cylinder if it doesnt work. M14x1.5 seems very large btw...

posted this link a while back... I can attest to this kit posted on my link...

I figured out why we have two bleeders as well. Our master just happens to sit higher than the slave/bleeder and apparently the bleeder needs to be above the master in order to get all the air out. I had trouble bleeding until I hooked up a vacuum to the slave bleeder and everything works great.

removed all the stock flexhose, only complaint is the line length.

BTW this was done on an 05 Altima SER...

Looks very nice. Good option for people that swap over from auto to manual as well.
