Adding heated mirrors to 02. Relay?

So after an hour long trip a few weeks ago in rain so bad I couldn't really see what was in my side mirrors, I decided to look into adding heated mirrors. I've been researching for a few weeks, ordered a set of heated mirrors (the whole thing) that arrived this week, read the procedure (link below) and I've run into a roadblock. How do you add the relay and get power connected to it?

I definitely don't have the relay in the relay box. Theres a big hole where heated mirror relay is supposed to be. Has anyone done this and had to add the relay?

Procedure I'm using:

Inerested as well. Heated mirrors should be standard equipment!

I'm sure the GLE's have them- this one's a base SE, not too many options.

You're right, it looks like it was part of the Meridian package even with the GLE.

You would think things like this would be standard, at least on the GLE anyway. But then again, if they were, it would cost a whole lot more and sales would probably have gotten a hit. I'm sure more people, especially up north would love to have this.

Anyway, anyone?

I on the other hand, have a big hole in there so I have to get the relay and then get it connected to the heater wires from the mirrors- this is what I'm hoping someone else has done.

Otherwise I have a feeling I'm going to be spending a few days looking at the schematics, playing around with a multimeter and somehow get it figured out. All this in the little time I dont have .

Totally worth it though!

To add the relay get power directly from the battery or use the common power wire in the fuse box, run a wire from the rear defroster relay to use as your signal wire to turn the relay on/off when you turn the defroster on/off and run a ground. If you know how relays work you should be able to get it done easily.

Thanks brother. I think I get the sense of it- i had to add a relay when I swapped my fogs for HID's, sounds similar from what you're saying. I should be able to get to it in another day or two- its the first day of spring so it makes perfect sense its snowing up here and I have no garage to work on it. I'll let you know.

Also if anyone else has additional info, definitely post, its sounds like theres a bit of interest in this so if this works, we might be able to stickie it.
