PS Jerky when cold
PS Jerky when cold
So first start of the day, if it's colder than ~45 degrees F, turning the steering wheel works for like 1/8 of a turn, then locks like it loses the power steering assist, then will turn another 1/8 or so, and keeps repeating the cycle from then on.
Now, as soon as I make my first few turns, steering is flawless.
Side note, there are no abnormal noises when turning the steering wheel; however, there is a slight noise coming from the PS pump at idle I can hear. hard to describe, but it's like "WSS-WSS-WSS-WSS"
It doesn't make the noise when it's cold, and it doesn't make the noise after doing steering intensive driving (I deliver pizza, so it see's a lot of work). It only does it once everything is warmed up and not excessively hot.
PS fluid has always seemed to look like it's boiling in the reservoir when it get's lots of use on a hot day.
So my question is, given the information, would another fluid flush or additive help? or is my PS pump done?
