FREE Horsepower???

I hooked up my OBD-II software and I only measure 90% MAXIMUM TPS(Throttle Position Value). Basically, the ECU never sees you are at 100% WOT at anytime. I think we could easily turn the TPS sensor and get up to 100% at WOT, which would signal the ECU for MORE fuel at WOT. However, all the screws are "marked" with paint, so if you screw something up the dealer will know.

Also, you could carefully file down the edge on the throttle cable reel stop, so the throttle plate is PERFECTLY parallel at WOT. Mine is definitely not parallel. It's just a thought, but Paul from Avalon Racing suggested they can usually tweak the TPS and "stuff" to get 5-10hp on some cars. If we could allow the throttle plate to open 5+% more and adjust the TPS sensor, so we read 100% at WOT, I wonder what kind of gains if any.

What about swapping a 3.5L throttle body to a 3.0L? I wonder if it would gain you anything.

That would only help if the tb for the 3.5l is bigger.

So basicly what you sayin is that....when i floor the car i only use 90% of the gas. so if we could adjust some screws we will get 100%...that's awosme...it could give us like 20hp

There's been talking of playing with the TPS and TB for some time now. I think we were waiting to hear from Avalon as they apparently do some tweak to every car they work on - they apparently had someone working on a write up concerning this. Has anyone heard from them?

I also measured only 90% using the scanner... Turns out that is well within spec though. You are measuring absloute throttle position and the FSM says around 80% is the recommended spec. The voltage of the TPS should read about 4 volts at WOT though....
