OH....I don't think you need the shift pattern anyway. I figure the driver knows where the gears are anyway.

I was trying to avoid a dealer.

I also was thinking about, my shift **** is in good shape other than the middle seems like the color is worn and is now more of a copper / black mix... has anyone tried to just re-paint the metal part of their shift ****?

Yes, the center piece of the oem shift **** can be removed and painted. There is a screw inside the shift **** that holds the piece.

Nope, they actually move the car, it's quite hilarious that it's able to move in 6th with out trying too hard.

I love watching people try to reverse in my car...should made a video of various people trying to back the Maxima up. Expecially Honda people that get in and try to reverse. I just watch....the funniest thing is not them fumbling around with the shifter, its the fact they got too much pride to just ask and they keep FAILING over and OVER LOLOL and get more pissed each time it doesnt work. When I went to test drive the car...I tried it once...stalled. then tried again and noticed car was pulling forward....then I put it in neutral and asked the dealer. "How you get this thing in reverse?" And he showed me...only took twice.....but these other dudes...OMG....HILARIOUS.....and they will NOT ASK anything. So much pride.

I can imagine it would be even funnier if you didn't have the shift pattern on the ****...LOL. They would be tryng up near first like the BMWs....LOL. all over the place...LOL.

I sincerely doubt that, in the last 9/10 years you've had it you have been the sole driver of your vehicle (besides mechanics), your wife hasn't touched it?

My wife cant drive my car. She doesnt know how to drive manual. She wouldn't drive it anyway because she's not into performance cars. She dont even like driving the Acura MDX......she drives her little Automatic Corolla everywhere...even though we have an MDX sitting there.

Well, there's my mechanic, and a handful of dealership mechanics. Then there's probably 4-8 friends over the last 10 years, but only with me as passenger. Never alone.

And no, my wife has never driven the car. Her choice, not my mandate. She's afraid of doing something wrong, because she knows how (disproportionately ) important my car is.

I've got a question for you guys, I look around on Clist from time to time trying to find me a 6 spd Max, and some guys don't specify what transmission the car has, but I see a shift ****. I'm curious, do the 5 speed and 6 speed 5.5 Gens, or if there are 5 speed 02 Maximas, do they have dif shift *****? Or is the black with aluminum shift **** just 6 speed?

I bought my shifter from a company on ebay. It matches my car well with black interior and blue exterior. Good feel when shifting too.

I put the 5.5 gen shift boot/surround on my 5th gen. But the shift boot doesn't close well because the 5th gens don't have that piece under the shift **** like the 5.5s do. Any suggestions for how to get this on good? I was thinking about cutting the inner snap off and then just super gluing it together.
