Shift Points

I have a 2k1 5spd with stillen intake and Cattman Y-pipe. Should I redline each gear to get maximum performance? I realize my power is in the upper rpms but just wanted to confirm the shift points for each gear?

When your just cruising around town and not racing there is no need to redline it everytime. Its a complete waste of gas and won't serve you any purpose. When your racing, its a diffrent story, i would shift at around 5 or 6 a 1/2 below redline is good.

When racing, you have to shift at redline with the 5th gens because the power band goes right up to redline. The best way to find out shift point for YOUR car is to dyno it. Then you know where the most power is. It can be different for each car (slightly).

I dynoed my car but the dyno plot is messed up. I'm wondering if redlining each gear is optimal 1-2, 2-3, 3-4, 4-5

Hey that's great advice! I was driving in second gear on the freeway when I am just cruising to work in the mornings. I never knew why Nissan put tose extra three gears in if I only need 1st and 2nd. Geez, I learn something in here everyday! Thanks for the help!

why shift 1/2 below redline when you racing....the whole point is to get to the max HP which can be found at redline. when just cruzin i belevie as long as you stay below 4k its ok
