S2000 fast but.............

not fast enough. Or maybe light enough.

With 11 days off from work what is there to do; cruise the streets.

Well comming back form Holly's poolhall I happen to hit a light when a S2000 pulls next to me. Light turns green and I start rolling and start spinning to let em know I'm game. Well we take a left onto the service road and he starts jumping on it passing me to the on ramp. Downshift to 3rd and staying behind him at about 4k. Once I pass the cement barrier I go WOT. Topping 3rd I am passing him up. Shifting to 4th I am now ahead by a car but............ some **** pulled out in front of us so I will never know how far we could of gone.

Only bad thing about the race is my brother said it was an auto. Oh well a kill is a kill.

Vtec can't handle 255 of these.

S2000's only come in 6-speed. He must have been gliding thru the gears

I thought they do 0-60 in mid 5's and the 1/4 in high 13's?
Nice looking car, and better price than the BMW and Mercedes. Still, I am anti-Honda. Not against the cars, but the snotty owners around town.

Well, i would think that guy didn't know how to drive the S2000, to get those numbers you actually have to drop your clutch at close to redline from a stop.

A friend of mine has an S2000 and we raced a few times in my 2000 Max 5 speed. On ther street at lower rpms, the Max walked away. Way up top, the S2000 strolls by. I mean WAY up top.

At the track, I could never beat him though. He always got me by about half a second and 3 or 4 mph. (13.8 @100 mph or so.)

S2000s got nothing down low due to the lack of torque.

You could probably beat him mid range and up top:

Here is some proof:

http://fluxu8.nismo.org/videos.html

The third video down is a rolling start against a s2000, modified Mustang GT and supercharged s2000.

You really can't glide throught the gears on a s2000 either. If he was to keep up with a Max he would have to be redlining each gear for sure!

A 6spd max is just as quick as a "normal" S2000. I have seen mag times of 0-60 in the high 5's and low 6's for a S2000, same as a 6spd max. The only way a S2000 would keep up with a 6spd max is if the driver is a pro. I have heard S2000's run mid to high 14's in the 1/4 normally. If you want to get a better time then mid 14's you have to do a bomb drop, the car will not last long doing that though.

Bottom line, 6spd max's own S2000's .

You guys Are dreaming. A 6 speed max has some quicks but bottom line an s2k will rip a max a new one. It's quick not so much off the line but it's get to the power band pretty quick (6k up)and pulls from there. 120hp per displacment thats a great engine and a light car. With the max could do that.

It has no torque though Heck it's #'s are not nearly as good as the max's. The only thing it has going for it is RWD and bomb drops.

S2000
2809 Lb's
Horsepower: 240 hp @ 8300 rpm
Torque: 153 ft-lbs. @ 7500 rpm

6spd max
3218 Lb's
Horse power: 255 HP @ 5800 rpm
Torque: 246 ft-lbs @ 4400 rpm

I think the S2000 was messin' around with you. At 240 hp it weighs a LOT less and once it hits about 5500 rpm and the VTEC kicks in....holy guacamole!!

The Max is a totally different machine and shouldn't be compared to an S2000 for racing purposes.

I think a much closer race would be between a Max and a VTEC Prelude.

That isn't a good comparison. Maxima is a lot less costly, seats 5 people, etc. It's like comparing a Z3 with an Accord???

You guys are crazy if you think an s2000 can beat a 6spd max easily. An s2000 would be very lucky to beat a 6spd Max! The Max would destroy it on the highway as well!

Amen. Who gives a damn how much the thing costs? Or how many peoiple it seats? Were talking speed here, unless a pro is driving the S2000 it will not beat a 6spd max.

I've raced a S2000 on two occasions once on the highway and the other was a light to light. Highway race the S2000 got spanked and the light to light race I jumped him with a good reaction to the green light and he couldn't pass me. All I heard was his engine screaming but he was nowhere to be found Mind you I have a 2001 SE 5sp so a 2K2 6sp would murder a S2000.

A 2K2 would probably beat the S2000 in a straight, but wait till you hit the turn's.

Or wait till you have to pick up your girl friend and her two hot friends? Or kids? Or family? Or business associates etc..

The s2000 will obviously handle better but fact still remains that the Maxima 6spd is bigger, less expensive, fast and is considered a family car!

The S2000 is a dream to shift...so smooth...otherwise...nothing special. If I would buy a Honda, I like the prelude look better, the S2000 looks better with the top down...
