So what ultimately happened to the engine? Oil burner?

2. You have to re-use your stuff. No tranny comes with an engine.
3. Buy newest engine with lowest miles for the best price. Don't matter power-wise. Unless you want 7th gen engine, which is not direct swap.
4. Any decent shop could do i or you can do it yourself. Cos will depend on he location and shop rates.
Thanks for the info.

What about something like this?

Free shipping, complete engine, 5 year warranty sounds good. Anybody have experience with these guys?

Seems excessive $$$ wise, but the warranty is good.

Yup and it had a couple of bad coils. One day I downshifted and heard a noise, saw smoke coming out the back and it stopped running. I had to coast to the side of the road.

I had it towed to Nissan and they said the engine needed to be replaced. They wanted too much money so I had it towed back to my house. The car is sitting in my driveway.

I can start the engine but you could never drive it. I imagine it could be rebuilt.

engine rebuild.

Hello everyone, im new to this, but I hear you guys are maxima masters. I have an 03 six speed manual that my older brother bought me, so naturally I have a special attachment to it. My engine has 194000 miles on it and it's starting to rattle a bit. So, me my brother and my dad are going to rebuild the engine completely as a week project. Rebuilding won't be a problem, but I would like to know if there's a procedure to removing the engine. It has to come out from the top because we don't have a lift. If there's a write up or a detailed way of what need to be done, I would appreciate it greatly, thank you.

DON'T BUY A GEN 5.5 (2002-2003) VQ35DE engine

Buy a gen 6 engine, they are less likely to be a oil burner

Or if you have lots of time and money do the gen 7 swap
