Low beam works but not high beam?

Hi

I recently purchased a 2001 Maxima and have no high beam on the right side.
So I replaced the lightbulb with a Sylvania 9003/HB2 but the high beam still doesn't work.

Am I missing something?

Is this by chance a Canadian car?

And, if so, do the daytime running lights work?

If you have a model with DRLs, then it's your DRL module that got fried. Since the highbeam circuit runs through there, it affects the right highbeam. That happened to mine (twice), so I just completely rewired my highbeams to a separate relay/switch.

Hmm... that's really odd, because both my DRLs stopped working when I had this problem.

You could also try switching the L/R headlight relays...

This thread covers the DRL issue (which you aren't having) and does have some other info too.

Thanks everyone for your feedback, it allowed me to make sure I had checked the basics. I'm not terribly technical so i'll bring it into the shop and see what they say.

The verdict is in: the DRL module was defective.
So $400 Canadian later and all is working again.

Thanks again for all your help!

Ok, so let me jump in on this thread since it's rather recent...

I have 2001 20th AE, and this evening while I was driving, I noticed that the passenger side's low beam is out. I switched back and forth b/w low and high beams, and the high on this light still works just fine, it's just the low-beat that decided to die.

Is there a remedy for this as well? I don't have the DRL thing in my car. Is it just the bulb that's out, (which I kinda doubt) or something more serious?

Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

It could very well be the headlight bulb.

The headlight switch could also do it, but that is less likely.

Ok, thanks for the comment. I'll try switching it out and see what happens.
