What is the process for syncing a transponder to ignition
Finally got the correct fob for my car, got that all sync'd and working. Next step is getting the key transponder synced. There are 3 Nissan and 1 Infiniti here, they all want $105 for doing the transponder labor. Before I call around to locksmiths I was wondering what the actual process is? Does it involve the Consult system? Reason I ask that is because I want to get the timing advanced but again don't want to pay what they want to charge. If I can get the timing advancement wrapped into the transponder job I might be ok with paying $105 just to have 1 additional key programmed otherwise I have to order another key first to justify the cost.
If the process does not involve Consult then what does it involve and why is it not user doable?

Independent locksmiths can do it and they don't have a Consult unit. They have some program on a laptop that can do the keys but I doubt that that program will do anything else such as the timing.
When you go to get a key added, take *ALL* the keys you want to work on that car. The programming process starts by erasing all keys from the security system. Then they program whatever keys you bring them.
