2000 Maxima SE Tire fitment.

I have a quick question... I have a stock 00 Maxima SE with the sports package( 17" factory rim).

I'm in the process of needing to replace the stock tires that came with the car. I was thinking about fitting it with Kumho 235/45/17 tires. After doing some research, looks like the stock 17" wheel only fits tire that support 7" rim width... The Kumho 235/45/17 fits 8" rim width...

So I hope I'm not stuck with the only option of buying the OEM Brdigestone Potenza RE92 225/50/17 tire again. Any idea if the Kumho would fit? And anyone know any other good tire that will fit this factory 17" rim?

Thanks,
-Joe

please check the sticky FAQ thread up top and try a search. THis has been discussed a lot. The stock rim is only 7" wide and tire manufacturers recommend no wider than a 225 tire on a 7" rim.

Though I have Pilot Sport, not A/S, but I can gurantee you that Micheline has the best tire wear and life than any other perfomrnace tires. Although they are quite expensive, but you will have a tire that runs long life while still maintaining soft tread.

Hey Joe, I'm going to do the same change soon, buying 235/45/17 and I will fit those on stock Max 17" We had a long thread about this last summer, if we go by the book, I guess you dont do it, but I did the same with 98SE, installing 225-50-16 on the stock rim and it was the best ride I ever had on my 98. I suggest you try it and then if your not happy of the ride or if you dont feel safe buy a new set of 8" wheel.

Cheers

Double A
