Pretty much title.
I HATE how the 00-01 front grill looks like, so wondering if a 02-03 would fit a 01, as they look sexy.
Thanks.

Nope. The grille comes as part of the bumper on 2000-2001. 2002-2003 bumpers come separate from the grille.

Shucks, seems like alot of work.
Then again, my bumper needs to be properly painted as the previous owner drove on the turnpike frequently and alot of rock chipping on the bumper.

Oh and to the OP, searching will provide you with a fairly resounding answer, that is that the 5.5 bumper and grill are best to swap on the car as a pair. It's obviously recommended to complete this front end conversion with the 5.5 headlights as well.

Along with VQ 3.5 engine , 6 speed tranny , 5.5 interiors , and a resonable milage maxima 02 or 03 car

Let me clarify. I meant, successfully applied OCD. Clearly it's been working for you.

OP, learn to love your 5.0 gen bumper and move on to things that you can more readily address without a disproportionate expenditure of time, money and sanity.

Yeah, im just going to deal with it.
As a student, i cant afford to buy a 5.5 bumper, lights and the grill.
Even so, id rather spend the money on sanding and repainting my current bumper from all the dings and rock chippings.
Thanks for all the insight folks.

^ That would be my suggestion, you took the words from my .... um, letters from my fingers? Hm.... oh you know what I mean. Just sand and paint it, it will look good, just don't be one of those guys that paints the burger black too, that looks dumb.

Nah, that would just look dumb as my car is black, and painting that black aswell takes out the taste of that NISSAN

Still though, il have to redo the whole bumper, one day.

Nope. It it did, we'd all have one... (if Nissan still had them to sell, that is.)

It's been done but not w/o modification (difference in lower bumper openings of course).

I saw it once (and only once). It was either here or cardomain I'm sure someone knows him. The car had a 5.5 bumper, ebay reflectors (not ebay proj's) and the AE lip on the 5.5 bumper.

i hate the 5th front end and totally love the 5.5.... just wish my AE lip would fit so i could swap it all. the squared out design of the 5.5 bumper is just so sick

Ive seen it done. My friend has a white 01 and he has the 03 headlights and grille. He shaved the bottom part of the grille because that is the main difference between the 01 bumper grille hole and 03. You should buy a aftermarket grille and try it first.

Ummm, no, the main difference is the width. The height is easy to squeeze in there. Also, there is little to no material to 'shave' off the bottom of the grill, certainly not enough that you could do it that way without removing the stock insert piece in the OEM 5th gen bumper.

I would love to see a picture of this.

I will take a picture when i see him. he has the stock 01 bumper with 03 headlights and the 03 oem grill. no mods to the bumper.

yeah he put the 5.5 headlight and front lip. dont know how he put the grille on but as you can see it isnt a perfect fit. You can compare this bumper with a 5.5 bumper. you will notice the difference. The front lip was moded so it could fit, compare my front lip and how i have the hook in the middle and look what he did to his lip so it could fit.

Thanks to black ice and lots of sliding, I've been driving around with a cracked front bumper on my car for a couple months. I've been doing some thinking and I'm gonna go ahead and just buy an 02-03 front bumper and grille, and go ahead and get a HID kit with some 02-03 headlights. I just need to find a place to paint my new bumper... But its good to know that all that should be able to be done without too much extra work.

Yes I can tell the difference between the bumper. I do find it difficult to reason why he did it though... the 5.5 lights dont fit right, the grill looks kind of hideous from that pic (would love more pics though, I'm really impressed I got any, cudos!), and to top it off, he puts the 5.5 lip on?

I mean, I can see someone going through all that so they can keep the stock bumper and stock stillen lip for the 2000 2001 like I did, but he changed literally everything to 5.5, except the bumper, and it's not smooth, he would be better off putting a 5.5 bumper on so at least the fitment is proper, because right now eveyrthng just looks way off.

I'm not going to comment about the blacked out headlights.

Whoops I sort of just did.

In any case, cudos to him for doing it, it takes *****!!! And cudos again to you for posting this!

Wouldn't you assume if someone is going to replace their 5.0 bumper with a 5.5 bumper, that they'd be using the 5.5 HID headlights?

Just saying. What's the point, otherwise?

Well I once thought about doing the 5.5 bumper / grille swap on mine but because of the price for all of that I wasn't going to be able to do it all at once. So I planned to leave my 5.0 headlights with the gap from the 5.5 bumper and grille. So perhaps money is a concern. I've just decided to live with my 5.0 bumper instead.

Quick Reply: Does the front grill from 02-03 fit 01?
