00-01 on 02-03 black SE tailight

To start off with im not a bigg bigg fan of chrome. it looks nice on engine parts no dought about that when it comes to show cars but heck our maximas are year round vehical for most of us and its not pratical to have alotta chrome especailly in the northern and salty areas.

Ill get to the point. I have a 02 GREY maxima 6sp SE. 02-03 maxima comes with chrome tailight for MOST SE models. I beleive the dark blue SE maxima come with black. I want to know if an 00-01 SE black maxima tailight will be a direct fit with 02-03 chasis reason being black housing tailight for SE 00-01 model comes standerd and easier to find. ofcurse same tailight shape and what not but as far as wireing goes? if it dosnt direct plug in i would have to splice and rewire a little i would assume eh? i hate to take my tail lights appart and paint the housing but dont wanna risk having any leak resulting in fogging up, let alone looking flush and original. -_-

thanks.

I read before you have to buy an adapter but I'm not 100% sure of it. I'm sort of looking into doing the same

Tail lights fit, you need the 00-01 wire harness.

Practicality and automotive hobbies are awkward bedfellows. Just saying.

If you do a direct swap with someone else the harness will be on the lights already. If you go to a junkyard you should get the harness with the light. The only time you need to buy an extra harness is when you buy the ebay knockoffs.

I found a guy who worked at a dry cleaners who didnt care about his car to trade me straight. I did the work myself in the parking lot in about 20 min. Simply took out 4 nuts, unpluged and put in the other car. Looks better and worked perfectly...

the next time I pull off this tactic will be with some chick with the 20th AE body kit (Hopeing for $250 on the body kit... Ill let everyone know if i pull it off)

well you lucky dog, lol, maybe ill try that. im was skeptical about it becuase a while ago i did a retrofit to my headlights with some lexus projectors on my 00 and ended up fogging every morning. if its 20 min its gotta be alot easier than headlights. i guess ill give it shot, rather than fusselin aroung looking for some 5 gen lights with the harness.

To each his own, but a Sterling Mist 5.5 gen, with clear side-markers and bright silver rims...

...you should have kept the original clear & chrome tails.

I agree, to each his own .. but I agree with John on this one. I thought of it, and that's why I haven't.

Polished Ti, clear side markers in front, red in rear, AlteZZ@z in t3h rear.

Yes they are swappable. Mine are Egay specials that are aftermarket reproductions. Side by side the only difference is a slight change in texture of the "Carbon Fiber" element of the tail. The brand of the tails are Eagle Eyes and they came ready to go down to the right harness.

yeah they may be changed back ive thought about it just havent gotten around to getting the old ones out of storage...chrome is just not an option, ill be plastidipping my trim soon...the rims look good though and they arent chrome....
i thought of paint matching the tails around the lights, but that would look tacky...i like the blacked out ones more

i'd smoke the side markers before putting clear tails back on.
