Hey guys, my SE came with it's fogs missing and I wanna get HID's eventually. I'm just not sure if I should buy new stocks, and upgrade later, or if it would be better to get HID now. I'm not sure what's involved with makin them HID but I wanna get them in soon so help me out brothers.

Just go HID. No point in going back to halogen. Youd end up spending twice rather than once. Install is plug and play.

 

Don't ask me why, but everything is missing it's just an empty hole. The wiring harness are still there, but everything else is gone.

If you decide to go HID, make sure you go with the 35W. 55W could melt the housing.

And for God's sake, don't go with 6000k or 8000K or 100000k fogs. If you want to match, get 4300K, but in my opinion, 3000k (yellow) looks perfect!

Well I just think 6000k headlights are HOT but 6000K fogs are NOT and look tacky... but it's just my opinion and opinions are just like buttholes, everyone has one...

Is that 6000k? Im running 6000k in my heads/fogs and theres a slight hint of blue. Those look more like 5000k

It's 6K, a very distinctive 6K that only Philips makes, love it because nobody around town has them, but they love them.

This pic looks sharp. I take it back, 6000K is OK. I think it must be 8000K and above that looks tacky then... there is one guy in my town with an E36 BMW that has blue HID head lights and fog lights and it looks just cheap. They must be 8000K because they look much more blue than yours.

I was thinking 6000K was much more blue than what the picture shows. I revised my statement and said that 6000K was OK, but 8000K way too blue IMO.

Yep, mine are 35W 3000K HID in stock housings.

 

I have 8000K heads and fogs.....they have a slight blue tint and 6000K is almost pure white! But 6000K does put down more Lumens.....

 

Just to be sure , fog lights are H3 bulbs 00-03 , correct ?

 

I've got 8000k for all 4, yes, as many of you know, I've always preached to infinium re: the non-benefits of it ... but I needed a little rice, because I was low on carbs the day I bought them.


I really like that. Going to go find some 3000k's right now.

 

I'm running 8000k heads and stock fogs. The 8000k does have a noticeable blue tint to them. Would I say they look tacky...no. But it's personal preference.I'm changing my heads/fogs to HIDs and I'm going 6000k all around because I want a diff look. You will always see something that looks good on someone elses car. It's all about the look you want your car to have.

No one is steering you wrong tho. But if you're going to get the fogs up and running, go ahead and go HID.

Interestingly enough, they don't list the fogs for the Max on the Sylvania bulb guide... I was going to say that it's probably the best source (aside from your owners manual) for figuring out replacement bulbs, but I have been proven wrong before...

I've always had 8000k bulbs in my Max...they are great and I like that "ICE" bluish light; it's not too blue and it's not diamond white either....just between.

 

I have 6k in my fogs and they definitely have a strong hint of blue compared to my stock 4300k HID headlamps.

I had some dumba$$ security police officer almost say I couldn't enter the base because my fogs in my old Max where 6k "Blue." I pretty much told him he didn't know what he was talkin about.

 

Wtf?, and to Gizm0, I like the 3K and have had them before, but for some reason my eyes couldn't adapt to the color while driving at night
