5.5 Bose Dead

I have a 2002 that has Bose (which I actually like) I soldered on the aux input into the tape portion as stickied here and it worked fine for 5 months or so.

Just in the last week the head unit will barely come on, if I turn the car off and back on sometimes it'll work for a few minutes but then will just power off and won't turn back on.

I've checked all fuses and they look fine. Is there any other trouble shooting steps to try or is my only option a used eBay head unit? I don't want to replace the entire Bose system with aftermarket so that's not an option.

Remove it...check your soldering job...check any other wires that may have been loosened by you.

thanks, I'll pull it out, but I don't think it's anything I did as it worked fine for 5 months after doing the soldering. It's worth a shot though.

My thinking is loose wire or somehow the soldering became loose.

If you can't get it to work hit me up; I may have a deal for you. I'm putting a Alpine in mine this weekend and don't have any use for the old one.

I have an 02 with that BOSE system in it too; sounds decent when it works but most of the time it just SUCKS....skips, numbers on display half way come on sometimes, and when it really acts up the time on the CD player just stays at 00:00 while CD is playing, when I'm listening to the CD player the volume mysteriously goes down and I have to hit the volume button on the wheel up one time and it jumps BACK up to where it previously was...it's worse when its cold outside.....may not have anything to do with your wiring job.
