Sunglasses Holder

For those with a 5th Gen that replaced their sunglasses holder with the 5.5 Gen version:

Did you have to cut back part of the headliner to get it to fit flush?

yes, you will have to trim a little of the headliner, but it is not much. the 5.5 version is so much better. I got mine from Dave B.

I also would like to know the diff. I have found the 5.0 pretty sufficient but would be curious as to what the 5.5 offers.

The 5.0 has a plastic clip that holds it closed. the 5.5 has in internal latch that is spring loaded. i.e. you press it in to open it and you press it in to lock it shut.

here is another thread on it http://forums.maxima.org/5th-generat...ss-holder.html

The 5.5 Gen holder is less expensive than the 5th Gen holder. That played into part of my decision (I think it was about $35 vs $70). Here are some pictures that show the other differences. The closing/latch mechanisms are different, that was the other part of the decision. A better product for less money FTW!!

The backs of the sunglasses holders to see size difference. The 5th Gen is on the left, the 5.5 Gen is on the right.

Awesome thanks for the pics. I will have to grab one of those. It's a push latch right?

Sunglass Holder Latch Only for 5.5 Gen

Hello,

I'm a new member. I currently own my second Maxima, a 2003. Formerly had a 1995 SE with manual trans (it was a fun car!). On my 2003, the little rectangular black plastic latch that pops into the sunglass case broke. It is the one in the red upper circle shown in the picture above. It is a two-part latch with the internal flexible yoke that slides in and out of the rectangular external housing. Does anyone have one for sale? I see on the posts there was a DaveB guy but my understanding is that he does not work in the parts dept or has moved on to bigger/better things?

Thanks!
Eric
