How my maxima looks after a month of ownership :D

Well, as some of you know i had an accident on my 1996 maxima.
After a terrible week driving a God awful honda civic that i rented i picked up a 2003 6spd maxima.

I bought it bone stock with 89k miles on the clock for $6900 + fees + financing and a bunch of other things haha.

Here is a picture from the add

here is the first time i drove the car to a gas station a block from the dealership
I also installed a drop in k&n filter that i had with me right there.

A few days after i picked up this wheels for only $150 + my stock wheels.
they came with brand new tires and are 18x7.5
The only thing i didn't like was the red stripe...

I also ordered smoked corner signals + LED's from ebay

then i installed 15mm spacers in the back to bring the wheel out a little bit.

Before

After

A few more days passed and i decided to get rid of the red stripe
I sanded and polished the outside of the lip and kept the rest black.

Finally the 4 latest changes:

1st the VIAS BOP, noticed a big gain on the high end and a little loss on the lower end, well worth it if you ask me.

2nd:
Progress springs, i only installed the fronts because i had to go to work, but i'll install the back ones in the next few days.

After the install

3rd:
350z dead pedal

And 4th a headlight restoration, you'll probably notice the difference on the new pictures vs the first ones

Some more shots of the car

The only other things i want to do the car is new struts down the road, and an exhaust....

thanks for looking!

lol. sorry i had a lot more pictures but i had to delete them.
I fixed the rest though

Not bad for a month huh!

I was going to get the black+red+white tail lights, but i'm not so sure anymore, i think the ones i have look good with the silver lip and the chrome time around the windows.

Yea...but theres no difference in the AE and regular '00-'01 SE tail lights...just the headlight [which wouldnt appl here bacause he has a 5.5 gen]...if you want to do the change my advice is look for each side individually on ebay...youll get them cheaper that way

Btw car looks good man...great progress after 1 month...I miss my black 5.5

I was thinking about the SE tails, but i'm not so sure right now, since i kinda like how the wheels+chrome trim+tails look.

That's a pretty amazing rush of mods for the first few weeks of ownership. Thank god you got rid of that red lip on the wheels. I almost stopped reading when I saw that.

Put a free STS on your list and some ES bushings for that old shifter.

I agree with MerlotMax... a black-on-black 5.5 gen looks best with 5.0 SE taillights.

Definitely go with the black SE tails, they look perfect on black. I also recommend doing the NWP Plenum spacers as after its installed the car still appears and sounds stock but you'll pick up a noticeable gain in the midrange. The timing advance is another good mod that doesn't change anything about the car other than add a little more power.

I want to get the SE tail lights and yellow fog lights.
I also want an exhaust. but not a whole lot more than that.

Is my DD and i love it so far, it looks almost the way i want it (besides the things i just mentioned) and is plenty fast

I'll update this thread as soon as i get some other things.

I'll be doing the STS in the next couple of weeks, maybe the same day i do the rear springs.

they are smoked, maybe look a tad clear because of the light

Craigslist is your friend my man!
Be patient and always have some cash for that "i have to get it" deal.

Mehh to those wheels, but everything else is looking good. Definitely pick up the SE tails, i have them on my black 5.5 and they look ten times better than the clear ones.

Polish up those headlight lenses too.

You just inspired me to save up for a 2003 6 speed. I already have a 2000 SE auto, but you can't have too many Maximas in your garage.

Looks great!

You surely are making very quick progress. Have a look at the spare tire cover I've developed - let me know if your trunk suffers from the same. (info in my sig)

The clutch, brake and accelerator pedals are OEM equipment for SE's equipped with a Limited Slip. The dead pedal is modified from a 350Z.

Common, inexpensive mods, yankee. I have the same, having modded the pedals because I don't have HLSD.

Looks good, not really a fan of black wheels on black paint, but to each their own.

Have you done anything with the paint such as polish or clean? It looks kind of like a matte finish in the sun on some of those shots. Could be your camera...

Okay, I was just talking about the metal platting on the pedal is all, like where did you buy those so they fit the maxima directly?

i polished the lenses, i think they need some more work haha.

And there is a guy near my house that has a maxima i'll hunt him down and offer a trade haha.

And about the wheels, I know there are better wheels out there, but couldn't pass it up for $150 lol

I was looking for some gunmetal wheels, but i like the 5 spoke design and the price of the wheels.

And i'm going to use some scratch remover for a few scratches, clay bar and wax it next monday. the paint does need some love.

that's how the pedals are from the factory on my car, SE with limited slip differentials have those pedals, the only one that is not like that from the factory is the dead pedal (the one on the very left), that is a moddified dead pedal from a 350z.

You can order the pads at any Nissan dealership. Easiest thing to do is to order them through CourtesyParts.com.

The clutch and brake pedal pads (same) are $25/each. The gas pedal pad is $40. And the 350Z dead-pedal is $30. Or thereabouts.

EXACTLY what I was thinking. There's something weird about that wheel/tire combo that still makes your car look like a monster truck. I've seen Progress drops before and they usually look better.
