Need Help w/ Cali-Spec Exhaust Please

2000 Maxima SE, Cali-spec emissions.

OK, my muffler rotted out again, right above the flange, but the flange on the intermediate pipe is no longer usable and it seems VERY hard to find a Cali-spec intermediate pipe, OEM and/or aftermarket. Not to mention the int. pipe doesn't look so healthy, so anyways...

The next flange in the system is all the way up front behind the cat, before the resonator. So without tinkering too much I figure I have to replace the int. pipe, or take it to a garage with a pipe bender... Any thoughts?

Here's what I'm thinking...there is a difference in the cat-back setup between Fed and Cali. The Cali has a longer int. pipe, and a longer one-piece muffler/pipe, right? Would I have any problems switching cat-back to Fed spec? Is the pipe routing the same or different, and will it work?

How about an exhaust, cat-back, for an '02 or '03? Same body right? Is the exhaust the same?

One more problem, I'm in Mass and the inspections are strict here, so 'any change to a stock exhaust system' could get me failed for a sticker next month. I gotta keep the sound level down as close to stock as I can, so no Greddy, etc... otherwise I'd try out the one here...cheap enough to try...

Decisions, decisions,

Thanks in advance
