Gonna be back at it again...

Well I've had my Max again for a while now but yesterday on the way home from work the motor shot craps...since I sold my Camaro monday I was gonna use the money to buy another car but I guess fate had other plans for me. So I guess I'm gonna be getting back into the performance aspect of my Maxima again. Here's what I'm gonna be doing to start:

'04 Maxima engine
OBX Headers/Y-pipe (I'm cheap I know )
High Flow Cat
Megan OE-RS Catback
NWP Spacers
SSIM (already have on current motor so I'll just swap it over)

I probably won't mess with a tune for the time being but maybe down the road. I'm also going this Saturday to pick up a set of 18" G35 wheels. I still have 2 more years of school left so I figure I'll just go back to having only one vehicle and make it as nice as I can . I gotta say I'm starting to get kind of excited to get back into modding my Maxima again.

Well I sold my Camaro for $4800 but I really don't want to spend it all on the Maxima but at the rate I'm going I fear that I'm going too lol.

I would suggest a 3inch exhaust a SAFCII an LRMAF and a WB. Why the 04 engine?

I've been looking at the Cattman 3" and it seems like it has some pretty solid gains over 2.5", just don't know if I want to spend that much on a catback, and as for the 04 engine, it's cheaper and you can find more of them with lower miles, I figure I am swapping intakes anyway so I'll get one of those and just swap a few more parts out and have a lower mileage engine for cheaper

Spacers? I seem to remember you uninstalling phenolic spacers two years ago, with a fair amount of trash talk on the product. If memory serves me, you got banned for a little while, too.

Glad to see you've come around. NWP Spacers are a fantastic mod.

If you do go with the 04 engine, be sure and replace the timing chain tensioners before you put the engine in the car.

One of the reasons I went with a 5.5 and not a 6th gen. Mind you I had a clean 6SP 6th gen with the Elite package in my sites but that tensioner issue steered me away.

Check the 6th gen forum. There are part numbers with the updated pieces that won't fail prematurely.

I did have a rough time with them the last time around, I installed them 2 different times and neither time would the car hold an idle and everytime I pulled them off the car would run fine again...so I'm just hoping that maybe I got a warped set or something...

And I didn't get banned because of the spacers...I got banned because you didn't want to buy my used ones lol

Oh and I ordered an 03 engine with 70k miles today...only reason I was gonna go 04+ was because I couldn't find a decent price lower mileage 02-03 engine but I found one last night so I ordered it today

Mine couldnt hold idle either would turn off, but kept giving it gas and then stayed on, but had a weird idle, but drove it and it didn't turn off I just think it is due to the more air right off the back without the relearn but after a day of driving all was well....

Nice mod list ,update us with some pics on the build.

I had a 97 z28 I just sold last summer.
Got sick of the fan issues and opti spark problems and the other misc crap.

Wish I kept it though, realy miss the T-tops on nice days like today !!

It was a love/hate relationship with the LT1

That looks like a damn clean Camaro man, I liked my LT1 it's just I honestly was selling it so I could buy a 300zx TT this fall which I will probably still end up doing because I have always wanted one but I definitely enjoyed the T-tops and for just a full bolt-on LT car it honestly ran pretty damn good.

And just for everyone's information too back in 2007ish my Maxima had full bolt-ons and a tune, but she was burning a lot of oil back then as well so I'm hoping maybe she was down on compression because I had:

Cattman Gen III Headers/Y-pipe
Test Pipe
Tsudo N-1 Catback
GAB Intake Mod
SSIM Manifold
SAFC-2 (Dyno Tuned by Speed and Sound)

And I think my best dyno run was 215whp on a Mustang dyno which I know reads a little low but that still just seems way too low for me and then at the track the best I could manage out of it was a 14.1 @ 100mph...so needless to say after spending all that money and not getting the results I was looking for is why I sold everything off of it and sold it to my dad and went to muscle cars for a while.

The Camaro in your sig is beautiful, OP. So is the blue one a few posts back. That was my favorite model. Didn't like it when they bugged out the headlights towards the end of the old f-body.

I bet you're going to miss it. The Maxima is a lot more inconspicuous. 4-door stealth and FWD quirkiness.

Update:

My '03 engine is setting in the garage, my clutch kit is coming in tomorrow and my headers/y-pipe should be here Wednesday. I'm probably going to order a BRM 3" catback this week as well...only reason for the BRM is I'm impatient and I cannot wait for people to fulfill Cattman's quota for him to make them, BRM told me that as soon as I place my order that I will recieve it no later than 8 days and from what I have seen they seem to be a good quality system as well, plus I'll save $100 (I know, I'm cheap lmfao!!!). I'm hoping to get the majority of it done this weekend and get it back on the road. After she is driving again then I will decide on what option I want to go tuning wise and if I want to continue buying more performance parts or not.

Update:

Old engine is out and got most of the parts swapped over to the new engine going in it. Gonna work a little bit on it this week and try to knock it out this weekend. Also I picked up a 3" Cattman catback (thanks Child Uv Korn!) so I'm excited to see how she is going to run and sound. So my mod list when I finish the swap will be:

GAB Modded Intake
SSIM
OBX Headers/Y-pipe
Stock Cat until Test pipe comes in
Cattman 3" Catback

If the car seems like it's running pretty strong and performing well then i will probably further progress and try my hand at a set of NWP spacers again and start thinking about getting a decent piggyback or something to tune it. But I guess I will have to wait and see.

Only thing I am worried about is this set of OBX's I bought have a 2.25" Y-pipe and like 2 1/8" collectors so I'm hoping that this doesn't have a huge effect because I'm pretty sure the last set of OBX's had a 2.5" y-pipe and 2.25" collector's but I'm honestly not sure but only time will tell I suppose.

You should buy turbo kit. It would fit quite well in your new project.
