Is this true about the 2003 availability?

I was speaking to the owner of my local Nissan dealership while waiting for some maintenance on my "00 SE. I told him I anticipated getting a '03 max when my wife's lease expires in Oct of 2002 on her "00 Altima. He said the '03 Max will not be available until much later on than Oct, perhaps it won't be availble until '03. Does this make sense since they are building less 02 max's than they did the '01 model? The owner was suggesting I pick up an "02 Max now instead (of course). Does anybody have a sense of when the "03 will be released? I know the"03 Max will be built in the US so somebody must have an idea of the tentative release date.
Thanks
y

If he's a dealership owner, I would think he knows more than the average joe that owns a maxima. He probably gets official news from nissan everyday too.

You just dont know what to believe nowadays because you get so many different answers for the same question, and many of the people working for the same organizations. I believe it when I see it!

In retrospect, the dealership owner was probably referring to the 6th generation Maxima which it seems will be a 2004 model released relatively early in 2003. The next big marketing campaign for Nissan will be the Z this summer.
