Anyone running Eibachs on OEM struts?

Anyone running Eibachs on OEM struts?
My cousin is looking to get some aftermarket springs and hes down to Vogtlands, H&Rs, or Eibachs but he wants the more sport oriented springs hence he'd prefer Eibachs. However he doesn't have that much money to spend on aftermarket struts since Eibachs are around $250 shipped brand new.
So I have a few questions:
Is anyone running OEM struts with Eibach springs?
How is the ride with this setup?
Any issues with bottoming out or excessive bounce from the softer struts?
Does the ride feel sloppy?
Any information/opinion would be greatly appreciated.
This will be the only suspension mod he has as well.
Thanks guys.

Springs like h&r's and eibachs you can get away with oem struts even though most recommend aftermarket struts with any aftermarket spring...I only had experience with the H&R's on Oem struts and the ride was good...no bottoming out and only difference from stock was a tighter feel on turns..but he also had a front and rear strut bar..thing is you hardly even notice those drops unless youre a maxima enthusiest and know what a stock 5th gen height looks like from a distance..when you start talking about s-techs, progress and maxspeed's then you should no question consider upgrading struts...I rode s techs on my fronts and progress on my rear on oem struts on my old 5.5 gen in NY...ride was harsh but bearable for me at least

Im running Eibach's on oem struts,no complaints about the ride but trim the bump stops as i didn't..over the right bump/pothole you will feel it hits pretty hard but overall its a pretty comfortable ride pending your oem stuff is not blown or in rough shape.

Save your money and get the aftermarket springs and shocks. I thought about going that way when I first started but ended up buying Eibachs and Tokico Illuminas because they were adjustable. You will end up blowing the struts out pretty quickly and have to end up buying struts anyway.

Yea I told him most people run Eibachs will Illuminas but Eibachs have one of the most minor drops, even less than H&R springs so I dont think hes too worried about blowing struts anytime soon.
Anyone else got 2 cents??

thanks for the headsup. im planning on replacing my oem springs with some aftermarket ones. i put in monroe sensa-tracs a couple months ago, you think those will be alright with the drop?

I ran Eibachs on my stock struts when I had my '99...for around 60k with no issues.
I too was strapped for cash and was warned against it. Maybe I was lucky but struts were fine when I got rid of it at 110,000 miles.

So you gonna help me do fronts springs when we do IM spacers to??

They should be fine especially if you just replaced them..Just make sure the person installing them knows what there doing..Alot of time thats the biggest problem when people start *****ing that something isnt right after they mod something.

To the OP: Eibach's are harsh man, you know this. The OEM struts should soften the ride a bit. And they *should* last a decent amount of time because it's a moderate drop, but there's no guarantee. What's the current condition/mileage of the oem struts?

Monroe are SUPER SOFT. Even if they're new, I don't have much faith in them.
++++eleventybillion.

I think he has around 75k miles on the struts, if worst comes to worst, GR2s are a possibility.

That car is just sexy, the color and the wheels are fire bro. The drop is perfect.
Where you see $275? Vendor on this forum is going for $325 shipped for the full set.

I wanted a mild drop, so after lots of research on the org, I decided to go wot the Eibachs (got them for $220) shipped. I want the tockico illuminas but its more money than I want to spend for struts so I will go with GR2. I was hesitant b/w tockico blue and KYB GR2, but again, after researching the org, I didn't find any complaints about the KYB, but there were complaints about the Blue... One more thing, if you want to complete your suspension upgrade, I would definitely recommend also buying new strut mounts for the front. Moot is a great brand for the mounts.

Back in my Honda days people ran 1-2" drops with stock struts with pretty much the same results people are speaking of here. Basically, run the stocks while saving for an upgrade because you're going to need it eventually.
+1 on KYBs btw.
