Suspension upgrade fail!

So i decided to upgrade my suspension with parts i mostly got on here
Illuminas with KYB dust boot (New)
Eibach Springs.(New)
Progress RSB (Used)
also a used evo2 catback
I work 7 days a week, so almost cannot find the time to do it myself. So i dropped it off to a local perf. shop.
Well...when i picked up the car.
Exhaust was wobbly and one of the gaskets was like halfway in
Some of the dust boots were upside down
Springs not properly seated
Sleeve halfway on the spring
Brake dust cover scraping the rotor.
Ebay FSTB...broken
See for yourself

Rear Springs not seated correctly. where's the sleeve

Broken end of the FSTB

Is this upside down?

Fixed wobbly exhaust..thanks to the threads here..

Progress RSB. Need some help here.
I am trying to figure out how to mount the progress RSB. especially this part here

I don't seem to find fit for this

At this point i already forked up the labor. I am not really sure i want to send the car back so he can fix it.

Boots are upside down, and the springs are not seated correctly.

The Rsb should have 2 of those brackets along with 2 u-bolts and 4 nuts. That bracket in the picture goes exactly over top of the threaded hole for the brake cable. Then the u-bolt holds it on from the inside to out. You can drill and tap the bracket for the brake cable or just zip tie it

You can mount your rear sway bar like mine: mines blue instead of black
your bolts and hardware are kind of different but similar as mine..

You paid for it and they should fix it. Simple as that.

Or you can just send me a couple hundred bucks and I'll buy my wife something pretty. Same results.

I think I'm missing some hardware. Anyone here has a Progress RSB on an 01. It'd be nice if you can snap a picture of how it's secured behind the wheel.

Hey Chaka

this is a progress rear sway bar on an 00-03 secured
http://www.moodym.com/maxima/tech/im...igionalrsb.jpg

in the picture where it says REAR BAR, directly right above it in the picture, just make sure the sway bar isnt directly below it or else every single bump you drive over, it will bang each other

You should be back at that shop either asking for your money back or waiting on them to correct what they messed up. Not posting a fail thread. You paid for a service, your supposed to receive the proper service. I understand you don't have that much time on your hands to be running back and forth, but you seem like a person who works too hard for your money just to have someone cheat you out of it.

Just an update....
So i went back and explained everything that went wrong on this install. Obviously he had to redo the whole install. At first he started telling me BS about why the springs are not seated correctly and i quote "That way the car is leveled since the back already sits lower" . I almost decided not to have him near my car again. I really wanted to give him another chance. But anyway the shop is in Tacoma, WA called Doug Garage. They usually work on Nissan Z, seemed reputable. This is their website: www.upgarageusa.com. This apparently is shutdown as of today. But here is Google cached page
http://webcache.googleusercontent.co...www.google.com. Not to point out dude was the rudest guy I met.

Anyway..everything seems fine at this point. love the drive especially the exhaust note. I have also installed the Progress RSB but will the need the FSTB.

It really isn't that hard of a job. Just sounds like they rushed through it. Even install instructions can be found online.

Oh well. I'm like OP, not having a lot of available time...but I still DIY for the reason above and to save money.

most people hate reading directions and install instructions, especially "professionals"

when i have a shop do work that accompanies with instructions, I literally highlight and redline the most important things because they never will read the whole thing.

I had spacers installed, and the guy didn't want to install the lower intake manifolds because he didnt want to mess with the fuel rails. If he only read the directions fully it clearly says how you don't have to mess with them.

True..I could have done it myself. I just moved to this area and i wanted to check out a tuning shop for future install ie: transmission rebuild or any other upgrades requiring a shop. obviously that didn't go so well. One of the bump from the kyb was squeaking big time. Got it to quiet down with a bit of grease. Also replaced the lower control arm bushings...what's the difference with these two attached pictures

Front Sway Bar Bushings - 23mm

Front Sway Bar Frame Bushings

i replaced the one in the bottom pic.

One is for a 4th gen (top), the other for a 5th gen (bottom).

However the above pictures are not for a control arm, they're front sway bar bushings.

Ah. Here's what's going on there:

On the www.energysuspensionparts.com site (which is not the official site, they are just a retailer of the brand), the Energy Suspension branded front sway bar bushings part #'s are 7.5124 and 7.5125. They are polyurethane. The picture depicted is the 4th gen version, the shape is not correct for the 5th gen.

On the same site, they are also selling MOOG branded front sway bar bushings, part # K90587. They are likely not polyurethane - maybe slightly stiffer than OEM grade rubber. The picture depicted is correct.

Here's the picture that the website should be using on their site for their product:

Oh and the official site for ES is www.energysuspension.com

Regarding the FSB bushings... 23mm version is for the SE model, whereas the 22mm version is for the GLE and GXE.

Get the ES brand since the cost difference is pennies. Either way, a brand new set of FSB bushings will be felt through the steering wheel. You'll swear your steering is more firm and responsive.

Most are, LOL. But the info is all here... it just takes a LOT of time and patience to find the things you need and the advice that's actually helpful. Yours, for example.

Big ol' on this. And I highly recommend coupling new ES FSB bushings with Moog endlinks.

I thought I had made my peace with this.
I recently was driving down the highway, i felt the axle was thumping a little bit. I figured oh well i need a new axle. At home I lifted the car to check, there was about an inch of vertical play. Took the tire off, the locking pin was not present and I could literally screw the nut with my hand. The ******* put the tire in and forgot to put the lock pin.
Axle seems fine, but the wheel bearing is gone. Sigh!

If you r going to have someone work on your car, be present. unless you want to trust him with ur life.

That's unfortunate.

I'd raise hell at the shop. Have them cover the bearing.

dude, go elsewhere get a new bearing, and forget about that shop, make time to be present for the install and never look back. you will lose more time and money fighting with them. its not worth it. live and learn

I've got to agree with DJHackStyle on this one. I'm a shop owner and operator myself, and have been a mechanic for a little over 10 years. There are a lot of mechanics out there that are far more knowledgeable than I am, but these mistakes are grade-school level. What's so hard about seating a spring properly, and how do you just break a FSTB and then hope the customer won't notice?? AND they can't properly tighten and secure a castle nut? Leave em behind, and forewarn everyone else about your experience. Sucks you had to go through this s*** and hopefully you will be able to find a reasonable resolution to this that won't completely ruin your day/week/month...
