Conversion to R34 headlights? Is it possible?

Somewhere down the line (when I get rich), I want to do a conversion to the R34 Skyline headlights but I was wondering how big of a job it would be to install the headlights. I'm thinking that you have to redo the hood in order to fit the headlights but not to sure. Actually the price of the headlights are not that bad. I can get them for a little under a grand but I think the big expense will come in for the hood. Has anyone done this before? I was in Japan just last week and visited the Nissan gallery and got the chance to view the newest Skyline 300GT which will be our Infiniti over here. IMO it's an ugly car and does no justice for the Skyline. They also have the new R34 MSpec which is one bad car!! Have pics; will post soon. Thanks.

Here's a little something to get you started.

Thanks Clee.....but I already checked out that site and it really didn't tell me much other than the price and that extensive modification is required for the conversion. I was looking more along the lines as to what exactly needed to be done. Thanks anyway for the help.

i know it costs 10 grand for a front AND rear conversion, so maybe half of that, but that all depends. its been done, so im pretty sure theres a price somewhere, i think MotoRex had a maxima that had a R33 front and rear conversion.

yea but parts go for about 3 grand too, and i meant a full conversion, HID headlamps, front bumper, rear taillights, etc..
i think it was like 10 grand with labor and parts and everything included.

If you were gonna blow 10Gs on body mods to a 15 second Maxima...sell the Maxima for 15Gs and buy a R32 or R33 Skyline and run 10-13s all day long.
Ummm....sounds like a good idea. Yeah, 10gs is just a little to much to change out the headlamps considering I can get them for around $1000. I can't justify spending another $9000 just to have my front end redone. That's way to much if you ask me. Even if it was only $5000 still kind of pricy. Oh well, price you pay I guess for the best. Thanks for the advice.

I think it may be possible to do a conversion, because the maxima and the skyline's headlights are in the same GENERAL shape.

10 grand? That can be used to buy plenty more than just doing the headlights over. I mean things like

Supercharger
Drop Springs
Struts
Rims/Tires
Sway bars
CAI
Ypipe

All that could be gotten for around the same price and make the car much faster and handle better.

It would cost a few g's. Around $2-3000 probably. I agree with SuDZ, put your money into something better than just headlights. It is a better bang for the buck if you add performance and other "show" items.

If you do get a chance to do it I would like to see it. The thing is you would need the new lights, hood, fenders, and front bumper. I also heard MotoRex did a Max to Skyline conversion but seen no pics so if anybody has a pic spread it. I also like the Silva s15 headlights too. Check with JT Autostyle they are the best at conversions (www.jtautostyle.com)

The GT-R's headlights aren't much more aggressive than the 2K2 HIDs. Get a pair of these for $800-1200 and no further work needs to be done to install them.
If anything, an R34 GT-R taillight modification would look awesome. I'd spend money for that, but not for the headlights.

i have a question:

WHY?

why would you want to do it? The 00-02 headlamps are all very aggressive looking and function perfectly... why spend $3K on something pointless as headlamps?

on a lighter side, i like how Option has HOODPINS under the JDM conversion catagory

i saw the full rear conversion of a 4g maxima to R34 skyline rear end. it looks just like the r34 skyline rear except it didnt have the GTR emblem or the writing that says skyline or maxima so it loked kinda plain but it was a clean cut job. the only front end ive seen was a blue one on a 4g max to R33 conversion, if u look at it from the front it looks good but from the side of the car, the maxima roof and hood is kinda too curvy compared to a GTR so it looks kinda weird.

I would also spend money on the taillight conversion too and just get the 2002 HID's, But if I had the money I would do both to set my Maxima apart from all other maximas. To think they actually made a four door skyline and I would like to have my Maxima look like one. So if you got the cash go for it if not just get the 2k2 headlights. How hard would it be to get the rears?

True, true. But one of these days when I'm done with all my other mods then I will do this conversion. Right now it's just a pipe dream. One of these days.....
