My Max made me bald!

I have been pulling my hair out over this car for the last couple months. Im on engine number #3, and still have problems! I got a misfire constantly on cyl #4, and car runs like my brothers old hyundai excel. The coils have been replaced as well as spark plugs, but car idles low and runs rough throughour the entire rev range. Im gonna do a comp test tomorrow.

So what do I do now? Whats it worth? '02 SE, 6spd with 107k miles. Brown interior, no rips or tears. Tires are faulkens with about 60% tread. New clutch, starter, coils. New main cat. Only mods are ghetto air box.

Have all 3 engines had the cyl 4 misfire or just the current engine?

If all the engines had the same misfire and you replaced the coils, there may be a problem with your harness or the ECU itself.

just the current engine has misfire on no #4... but I replaced plugs (mechanic said good... they werent). Runs ok, but will not go over 60 m.p.h. Car has no power what so ever. Engine #1 returned for core charge. Engine #2 returned from warranty. This car is a chronic headache. the money i put into it is ridiculous!

Did you do the compression check and how does cyl 4 compare to the others?
Have you verified that the coil for cyl 4 is getting the signal to fire from the ecu?
Do you have a check engine light and what are the codes?

last codes i got when eninge was running rough were p0300, and what whatever it is for misfire #4. Since I replaced plugs, I havent had any issues with that, but no car wont rev past 4k or past 60 mph in 5th gear. I just cleaned maf, and ivt solenoids. Last code I got were p0011 and p0021. I have battery disconnected right now, to try and clear any residual codes, etc. Compression was higher in #4 than 2, 6. I havent done 1, 3, 5 yet (no gaskets). Compression was 100 (2), 120 (4), 100 (6)...

One more thing i noticed when I was driving car... When accel., It was sucking in air big time. I was behind my friend and he said I could hear it from his car!

UPDATE- Replaced MAF sensor... car will rev to 5k from idle, but whenI try to drive, same thing... goes to 3k and thats all. But i did notice a exhaust leak from either rear cat or rear manifold...

Any other ideas?

Mechanic did comp test and said it was in the range of 220 for all 6... but the front cat was plugged up and was in the process of pluggin up my new main cat already. they cleaned out main cat of loose debris and blew out front cat. He installed a test pipe on main cat, and let me knw to replace or finish hollow out front cat. since the bolts are broken nw, I think I can handle it. picking up car today

yeah, things are kinda resolved. Cats were plugged. I have a test pipe in the main section, and mechanic got a lot of crude out of the front pre-cat. I have a exhaust leak somewhere, and need to get it into a muffler shop. She still burns a lotta oil, but I can live with it. some old guy pulled beside me in his new BMW and told me smoke is coming out of the car. I told him its a diesel.

i believe essential made a good point... maybe its not the engine bro, go to the junkyard n cut off the cyl 4 harness n splice it on... my DE-k did it the 1st day, luckily my friend worked at nissan so i took it from a pile of juck they had n spliced it that day... ran perfect since
