Replacing Blower Motor 2002 Maxima
Replacing Blower Motor 2002 Maxima
So I've determined that my blower motor is bad and I will be replacing it with a universal model I got at Advance.
Of course, the universal unit just comes with a red and black wire, while the OEM one has a plug type connector.
I know I have to cut the connector off and connect the wires to the universal unit, but the OEM has a Blue/Yellow wire and a White/Brown wire.
Does anyone happen to know which one gets connected to Black and which to Red? I'm sure trial and error would work just fine, just wondering of someone knows the right answer on the Org.
Thanks!

Blower motor is one speed which is the reason for only two wires. One needs to be power and one ground. Use your multimeter to find which one of the connectors has the power signal. This should have been determined when you went through the troubleshooting process in the FSM. How did you determine what the problem was?
Also, why cut the factory connector when you can add spade terminals to the wiring on the new blower motor?

You wouldn't have to cut the harness off to splice the wires. I was just helping my brother swap blower motors and the one we took out (was replaced when he bought it used) had spade connectors on the blower motor end that just slid into the white harness.
for checking the FSM, too.

The spade connector idea was brilliant. I never would have thought of that. I happen to have had had some lying around, and it made the job a lot easier.
New fan is now installed and working great, thanks for the help.
BTW, the way I diagnosed it as a bad motor was by taking off the glove box and hitting the side of the motor. As soon as I did that is started up. It's also been noisy for a while, so I figured that had to be it. $114 for a new one from Advance Auto Parts and so far all seems to be fixed.

Glove box off, check.
Motor off, check.
Impeller retaining nut off, check
Impeller off.... impeller off... The impeller doesn't want to come off easily and I don't want to break it. Any pearls of wisdom out there? THANKS in ADVANCE!
