Need some help please

Ok so this is for my dads maxima. He's got a 2k and no major issues up till now. A few weeks ago it was having a problem with stalling which was similar to my 4th gen. I fixed that, but the problem now is that it is not wanting to start which I believe is his battery cable that is worn. But the real issues is loss of power. It will not "punch" like it should.
I cleaned the MAF and it seemed to help some but it is still very sluggish and not giving the power output it should. Any ideas? Thanks for the help

I thought that too. But my thinking was how could it be bad when I haven't even replaced it on my fourth gen. Thanks that will probably be the first thing to do

I had to replace the maf in my 2000 at 73k miles. My 97 still has the original maf.
