you got lights on the dash? Check your battery terminals make sure they are tight and free of corosion. if all is good there and your battery checks out then it might be your (CPS) crank position sensor going out but it should atleast still crank if that was the case... check voltage on the battery and your terminals then check back in.

Never had a light on the dash come up since i have owned the car, car has over 109,xxx on it. i tried jumping the car, it cracked and started and then i turned it off after 10 secs and then it didn't want to crank at all after that.

What 1991Maxima1991 was asking was when you turn the ignition switch from off to the on position (not start position) do all the warning lights come on, oil, alt, brakes, check engine, etc? This is a light bulb check function, but also tells us if you have power under the dash.

If the battery is good and the dash lights light up and the car doesn't crank over, there
are 2 possibilities. The ignition switch could be bad or the switch on the clutch pedal is bad.

yea all the lights light up. how do i check if these are bed?
if the starter was still good shouldn't it still crack the motor?

Edit*
i think the starter went after cranking the motor so much for the past 3 days, and the cranking problem might be a crankshaft sensor.

If you turn the key on and you see all light on but the engine won't start, i assume the ignition switch is making no contact, it is worn out. You can buy one at Auto Zone just under $30 replace with new one.
I have the same problem but i bought one change now my car Maxima ok, my car has 157000 miles

Yeah to me sounds like a starter, if the battery is good, went through 2 on my 2000 and 1 on my 03, always best to get the lifetime ones.....

I've had to replace the starter on my car. The starter on my 2000 seems relatively small compared to others i've seen on other V-6's. Good thing is that the starter is on top of the bellhousing and is easy to get to.

the one the i guess went out now was the napa one. the other 3 im not sure where they where from since i didnt install them. i had my factory one that died on me about this time this year, then it was replaced with idk what brand. That one died once i had my new clutch installed, the reason that one died was because there was a bad ground from the tranny to the block itself, but we went thru 2 starters b4 we noticed it was the ground that was killing the starters, so we fixed the ground and got the napa starter. now the napa starter is dead. im in the middle of replace the starter now
