could this be my problem

I was having a hard time getting the car to go into first gear and reverse. So I took the transmission and clutch back to see what was going on. What I found was that some how the pilot bushings was missing. Would that make the car difficult to go in gear? Just wanna know before I put it back together. Thanks

It's a good possibility. Without the bushing, the input shaft is probably slightly angled so the syncronizer has a difficult time meshing together. This is also placing angular stress on other bearings.
