This is not my year, RIP 2002 6MT
Due to Time Warner's inability to find maxima.org (plus a couple honda boards) because of some DNS issue, this happened about 6 weeks ago.
Maxima gets totaled by a drunk in January, road bike gets hit by someone on the wrong side of the path, breaks my bike frame and separates my shoulder, then Thursday, September 1st, I'm on my way to the grocery store, move to the right lane and accelerate to pass a truck going 32 in a 40 in the left lane, right into 1-2 inches of water flooding the right lane from some apartment complex sprinklers. Back tires aren't bald but are close to the wear bars so I hydroplane, thought I recovered, then either hit more water or a bump (road is pretty rough in that area) and spin into the median (curb there is maybe 2" high) and the back end hits a pole.
My son had driven by the same location 3 hours earlier and he said the sprinklers were on then too, and blasted the side of his girlfriend's SUV. One of the officeresses at the scene said that complex has been flooding the street all summer. No idea why code enforcement has let it go on that long.
Just had a bad feeling about Thursday. We almost got hit earlier in the day when I moved from the left lane to the center left lane on the freeway at the same time some idiot moved from the far right lane to the center left lane, cutting off a semi then nearly hitting me. Then after my bike ride, I'm coming home, leaving a light about 1/4 mile from home and some jerk passes the car in the middle lane on the right and missed hitting me by maybe a foot. Then I hit a huge deep puddle of water (on a completely dry day, ****ing sprinklers) on the way to the grocery store, spun out and hit a pole. It was like I was meant to get into an accident and the way it happened turned out to be the one that would least likely seriously injure me. Weird.
Pretty lucky, a bump on the head, a couple minor cuts. My son insisted I go to the hospital to be checked for a concussion, doctor said I *may* have suffered a very mild concussion if I did at all.
Car is history.
On the plus side, I even minus my $495 deductible, I got almost $900 more than I paid for it. Covered the cost of the a/c I had fixed in June so basically put 11,000 miles on it for free.
I thought about another 5.5 gen but all I could find were 4ATs and after a 6MT, just couldn't go back. Been there, done that.
Turns out my Dad had decided to buy a new Nissan Frontier and offered to sell me his low mileage 2004 Honda Accord EX V6. Fully loaded, including Nav. Quieter and much nicer inside than the 5.5 gen. Nice to make u-turns again too. However even with 240 hp and a 5 speed automatic, it is no match for my 6MT 5.5 gen, in a race, it would have been ugly. No HIDs either.
Already debadged it...
Anyway, I will check in from time to time. Might get another 5.5 gen 6MT if the right one comes along.

I was wondering where you've been. I'm sorry for your misfortunes. That's a lot to stack up all in a year. Hope the rest of the year goes smoother. Your accidents all seem like they could have been worse. You're blessed.

Wow man. I'm glad you OK. A co-worker of mine just lost his brother in a head on collision. He was in a Honda and the other person was driving a Jeep Cherokee. My co-worker is 28 years old his brother I think was 25 or 26. All of us from work went to the wait yesterday to view the body and show our support. It was really sad. My point is, although its hard to swallow, cars can be replaced but humans can't. Glad your OK.

At my brothers now, that's why I can get on maxima.org, once I go home, the page times out without opening.
I can get to SA if there is enough for 3 days of work. Heading to Arizona for 8-10 days for the same reason.

Wow. You got an excellent replacement, then F'd.
I hope you don't let that interior go to waste. Maybe find out where the car is going?
Switch to Open DNS and/or Google's DNS. ISPs are a joke. You can add the addresses either in the router or in the tcp/ip settings of w/e OS you have.
ISPs can barely function, I don't trust them with DNSes lol.
open dns: 208.67.220.220
google: 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4
Plenty of tutorials if you're unfamiliar.

Sorry to hear it man, 2 5.5's in a year. I remember reading threads on how much more you liked the 6MT than the 4AT. Glad to hear that you're fine though, and hope you don't leave the org.

Wow, two lost MINT 5.5s in less than a year. Sorry to read about this, but seeing that 5.5 like that also tells me that it had potential to be MUCH worse. At least it was only the car. If you really wanted it, there are lots of 5.5s out there.

Good Luck on the Honda, sure No Problems there will reliable cars...

Oh man, sorry for your loss. It looks like the maxima did a great job of protecting you, and the most important thing is that you're okay.
If you ever do come down to SA, my car could use a good detail.

Haven't seen you on the Org in forever, and then this? Again?
At this point, I'd be looking for a Volvo, and then have it reinforced. Probably add OnStar, too. You're a brave man, Scott, for shaking it off and moving on. Shame to hear you giving up on the 5.5 gen for the Accord, but there's a good reason for the Accord's reputation, so I'm sure you'll be happy.
Adios, Scott.

well the moral of the story is that he is OK... cars are easily replaceable, human lives not... its just sad to hear about what happened to him... either way I would go back to the sprinklers cut every single one of them and dump them in front of the rental office with a picture of the car... that is just stupid... creating hazard road conditions on the road I believe is illegal...

Sorry to hear about this mess, don't they say things happen in 3's? Anyway I am glad to see you here in ok spirits typing in this thread. Damn 5th gens can't physically u turn its so funny.
One thing that helped substantially when compared to their size with the turning radius was were front 5mm spacers.
Glad to see you debaged it, keep us posted on what you do with it.. maybe a GAB
