Water in Fogs
Water in Fogs
I know there are threads out there about this but this Search button hasnt been working for a week
for me so apologize in advance
. Trust me i know the rule of thumb here... i have water just a lil bit in my fog lights. My question is is it simple to resolve this by removing the housing and the bulb and drain it out or is it something more in depth where u have to drill a little hole in it?

Generically, this problem is caused by condensation building up in the light, not from water itself getting in persay.
There is a little vent on headlights and foglights, and there's a filter built into this vent, over time, it can get plugged up, and no longer vent.
The constant change in temperature mated with the 5.5's glass lens creates a large amount of condensation, and without any vent to stop the drastic change in temperature on either side of the glass, water accumulates.
You can normally purchase a new filter, use a machine screw with a coarse thread, screw it into the old filter and pull it out, then just install the new one by pressing it in.
If the lens has been tampered with, or in some cases the seal worn out, it can be caused by the acual Lens seal going bad, however, on a stock light that hasn't been tampered with, this is unlikely.
