Anybody got typical MAF readings
What are the typical MAF readings (2000 Maxima)? The FSM gives a range for both idle and 2500rpm and it is very wide range. It does NOT give the maximum value. I have noticed that at WOT it will go as high as 90 gm/sec on my car. I am on my second MAF. The first one was replaced at 70K after I started getting P0171 codes. I had monitored it and it was sluggish and was staying in the low end. The car now has 170K miles on it and MAF still seems to be running fine.
However, I have noticed car jerking when cold and I know that was one of the problem I had when my old MAF was dieing.
I am also curious as to how ECM is able to work with the wide range of acceptable value of MAF readings. There is no calibration for this sensor.
If you are familiar with theoretical and practical aspect of engine management, please chime in for a good discussion.
